You left the dipstick out.

You left the oil cap off.

We have a winner!! Yes I took it out Saturday when I was replacing the gasket on my LHS water pipe and plum forgot to put it back in. I figure I lost a good half quart of oil; it's all over my engine bay and garage floor....

Maybe I shouldn't be working on cars afterall?!

Well where is my star?

Don't worry about it I knew the answer because that happened on my 300ZX at a shop, they called me to tell me they had my dipstick still there!

Thanks beerz! We can always count on you to come through with the nifty graphics!

So after searching my garage for half an hour, I found it, now I'm going to take her for a long ride; hopefully leak free for once!

how about the smoking issue...did that get solved too?

And just a note...if you overfill your oil...it will come burping out the dip stick as well..and scare the crap out of you.

Good stuff, I'm glad you got it fixed. Sometimes, you have to look for the most simple stuff...

It still smokes some as the rpm's are coming down. I drove the car some, then got out and checked the exhaust as it was running: no smoke what so ever. Then I stuck my foot inside and revved it up to about 3 or 4 grand, ran back, and sure enough, a little bit of smoke coming out of both pipes.

I trimmed some of the oil return line earlier tonight on the LHS turbo because it was damn near a straight horizontal line in the middle of the hose; now there is more of a downward drain. But I have not done anything about the RHS oil drain; will look at that tomorrow. I suspect I'll find the same thing. If that doesn't fix it, I'm taking it this weekend to have it tuned at SGP in Houston, so I'll have them look at it.

Sharif-
How exactly do you know overfilling causes the oil to "burp" out the dipstick tube? C'mon, fess-up.....
