Default How much does it typically cost to ship an engine?

Title pretty much says it all. More specifically, from Tulsa OK to Houston TX (SGP).

I'm going to start collecting parts to build up my engine over the next few months, then next year sometime, pull my motor out myself and ship everything to SGP for assembly. I would buy one of their Ultimate Short Blocks but I'd rather spread the cost out over a period of time, and save money by pulling and installing the motor myself.

It costs way more than 100 dollars to ship an engine. I shipped a blower that weighed 70lbs about your point a to b and cost 70. I'd say your looking somewhere in the 250 range from FedEx, higher from UPS, and even more from the freight companies.

Use a forwarder not a courier like UPS for air.

The cheapest route is to crate it and send it by truck (Roadway, Yellow, etc.).

Roughly $400 with insurance, crating, lifegate fees, and the other BS the ground freight companies will add on.

Do a google search for LTL Carriers. (less than full truck load)

ernie and i both had motors shipped...he had a block shipped-cost $100...i had a longblock shipped and packed very well...and it cost $120 from florida to new mexico...

so, the $150 figure is not too far off, check with air freight..meaning they will ship to an air freight dock in your city and you'll have to go pick it up...this helps explain why it is less expensive than the other numbers being thrown around

I am paying $400 to have my long block shipped from SGP to Miami. I should have it back in two weeks.

This sounds reasonable. Door to door service is significantly more, than picking up from a depot facility.

Default Cheapest Shipping for an Engine

I would say the cheapest way to ship an engine is through www.Shippi.com. They have flat rate pricing way cheaper than FedEx or UPS.
