I just finished installing the supercharger tonight. After initial startup I had a gas leak and shut the car off and fixed the leak. While inspecting all the belts at this time I noticed that the belt tensioner for the belt that is hooked up the the SC had shifted forward. I reset the tensioner so that it was perfectly centered. Started up again and the tensioner moved forwared again and sheered the belt off. All this happened within 20 seconds or so. Is the tensioner supposed to have that kind of play in it? anyone know what I did wrong?

Just by looking at the first 2 pics, you are not lined up at all. There either needs to be a spacer for the SC or the tensioner needs to be pushed back.

Everything should be flat and aligned.

There has to be some kind of spacer/washer that is missing on the tensioner.

looking again, is the tensioner on backwards?

You are going to need to get a new belt in either case, just make sure everything is lined up before trashing the new belt.

In the grand scheme of things, this is a pretty easy fix. If this is your only problem on a self install, pat yourself on the back for a job pretty well done and saving a good $650 + .

So far this is the only problem. The install was time consuming but was pretty straight forward. My first thought was that the tensioner was upside down. This is the way I received it from stillen. There is about a 1/4" to 1/2" worth of sliding movement in the tensioner. I think if I flipped it over, even if it moves from side to side, it will still support the belt.

If you call stillen and let them know, I'm sure they will send you a replacement.

Definately call still, or at least e-mail them. My tensioner has no movement in it at all.

I talked to stillen and showed them the photos. Turns out the green tensioner is not supposed to have any play in it. They are shipping out a new one and a new belt as well. I have to say I am impressed with how quickly they are taking care fo this.

Stillen has taken a bad rap on customer service, but I have always found them to be pretty good. The problem is getting a hold of someone, once you have someone they really want to help.
