Default ATI Procharger vs. Vortech

alright guys, i must have read hundred of threads on superchargers but this is the thing. I just wanna add a supercharger to my stock 2003 track and be done with it. I dont wanna have to do add or do too much to it afterwards. Hence, give me the low down boys. From what i've read, it seems that Vortech would be the way to go since with the ATI you have alot of timing issues and other stuff you have to add afterwardes like the safeguard. So in terms of total price (including all the stuff you have to do to it after installation) and simpleness which one would you recommend??? Please advise..

When complete, ATI might be capable of more HP. Vortech is popular and seems to be a reliable kit. Since your in Cali the Vortech might suit you better with Vortech having the Carb eo#.

Vortech is the best supercharger kit IMO, even better if you get the tuner version and add your own fuel return and emanage.

You still have to tune with the Vortech and the timing still needs to be addressed as far as I know. This isn't an exclusive to the Procharger.

The vortech is a more complete kit, it comes with the Split Second box for all the tuning, which you can either run Vortech's tune or you can get the box custom tuned. It is a very complete kit, and very well put together. The only thing you should have to add with the Vortech kit are one stage cooler plugs and a custom tune if you are wanting some extra HP

How is the HKS any more safe than the Vortech on out of the box settings?

Well, if you take it out of the box and never install it...

Matt, don't forget to push the Gates Belt along with the one step colder plugs for the potential future Vortech owners.

I've been running the Procharger with the JandS without any problems what so ever. Runs great.

I really think both the Vortec and Procharger are capable of about the same HP/TQ which when spun fast generally produces about 450-500rwhp and around 380-400 max rwtq. Procharger are known for their racing blowers. They did underengeneer the Z kit because the main bracing plate is not strong enough and flexes which breaks belts. Not too hard of a fix.

When you look at the dyno graph of supercharged Z's you'd think you were looking at a graph for a big V8 because that's how the power feels. I love turbo's and they always have more TQ but instant 400rwhp the second you floor it is nice too

yeah I think the vortech/ati kits feel like a V8 throughout the entire powerband for the most part if you're running some decent boost with an upgraded pulley anyway

turbos seem like they drive like the stock car below 2500, then turn into a 800hp supercar between 2500-4500, then turn into a regular V8 after that
