Default What is the most reliable F/I kit?

I am new to the F/I world and I am wanting to start off easy and reliable and work my way up to the more advanced application later in life. My question is what is the most reliable and easiest F/I kit on the market for a noob? I need reliable b/c I only have my Z, nothing else. I need easy install b/c I am a noob in the F/I world! I have been leaning towards Stillen Stage 2 b/c of the warranty and OEM like application! Thanks for your help!

for easy and reliable i'd go with vortech. but the more research you do, the more you'll find turbo to your liking. then you're best value is turbonetics or aps - they both make a single turbo for about the same cost as a supercharger.

There is nothing easy or "bulletproof" about taking a NA car and making it FI. If you can't stand to have your car go down intermittently then don't go FI. I would definitely have a second car or have access to another one. Little problems are going to creap up. Right now I would say the Vortech kit and the jury is still out on the APS or TN ST systems. With time we will know more. Me personally I would go with the TN ST system because I like a flash better than no flash and a piggyback. I have the Greddy TT with a built motor so what do I know about SAFE? My car was down for 3 months.

Yeah, nothing is safe about going FI.
I used to have the Stillen SC with 6lbs of boost. Soon after I needed more power so I switched to the 7lb pulley. That was still not enough, so I installed a 55 shot of n2o. Now you see where I'm going with this.
FI is addicting,so if you can't afford it then don't do it.
My motor was so worn, the pistons just fell out of the block when it was disassembled.
The block is done & now I have to wait for the heads to be ported & polished. It's already been about 3 months of waiting & I'm getting sick of driving my '98 altima.
In the end, the built APS TT w/n2o motor SHOULD be enough.
You never know

Yea I think the SC's are pretty safe but those TQ numbers on the ST's are pretty awesome. If I ever go FI I would most likely go with a APS or Turbonetics ST and put money on the side incase I ever need to do a full rebuild of my engine.

if money is an issue then Turbonetics or Vortech. If money is not an issue then APS all the way.

Also, expect to have some spare money in case you need to fix it later.

the most reliable is the one installed properly and tuned properly, with forthough put into all the ancillaries needed.

it has little to do with the kit itself

+2 on the comment above referring to a properly installed and tuned kit.

As far as Turbo's go I would say APS TT-for the amount of time its been out only heard of maybe 1 guy blowing it up (although it was hidden from these baords iirc) that says A LOT considering there are 2 guys running 11's on stock blocks tuned properly. Second place imo would be the Turbonetics kit, it seems to do well with the flash beeing pretty rich (safe) for the majority of applications, and again only heard of 1 guy having a problem with the motor, but that was due to his carelessness/lack of knowledge, he installed the kit, no wideband, no dyno to check the a/f and he ragged it immediately-it blew 2 days later, obviously something was not right with his tune/set-up.

As far as s/c's Stillen is pretty reliable, havent heard of a blown motor due to those kits, but that could also be due to the lower power levels. Vortechs seem to do great as well. I know ATI back in the day got a bad rep because people werent retarding timing in them at first, when done corrrectly with the right suporting mods, and kit can be as reliable as the next. Look at fito in PR who has a Greddy kit with mods running 11.1 in the 1/4 with a STOCK BLOCK G35, he puts all the people that doubt Greddy to shame.

I think a PE TT or an HKS SC, both at base boost. Less chance of weak points in the engine being exposed. Stillen also, for the same reason.

Stillen for ease of install and reliability... only one with a warranty.
