Is there anyone out there who has a 5AT and has replaced their stock 3.3 FD with the 3.5 FD out of the 6MT? What I am curious about is the increase in 1/4 times after the swap.
Someone who has run before and after the swap, please post 1/4 times with each run. I will be doing this swap within the month.
I did use the search button and no useful info!
TIA,
Zach

I got 1.5 to 2 tenths by changing the pumpkin to a 3.5. 5 AT with 307 RWHP, Stillen. Does the 1/4 in 13.0 on 19 inch toyo's. First gear goes by very quickly and I have to launch the car at 750 rpm or it just spins the tires. 2 nd. gear is wild, car goes like hell. I have to shift at 6200 or it hits the limiter. These guys who claim they got .5 to .4 lower times are dreaming.

Zach - I remember seeing a post on either G35Driver.com or 350Zmotoring.com & the swap showed about a .1 decrease in quartermile times. As for myself, I changed the diffy in my GS400 from a stock 3.26 to a Supra 3.73 w/LSD & dropped .2 off my times. All things considered going from 3.3 to 3.53 & dropping .1 seems about right, IMHO.
I would think it is about right cuz now you'll have to shift to 5th to pass the 1/4 mile mark. I want to go the opposite so I can stay in 4th to finish making my times faster

My car jusr ran under 13 sec 1/4's consecitively with the Stillen and an 8 1/2lb pully so to the guy above, I ain't Dreamin......... Maybe you should try the NX-NTercoooler setup. It help cool the intake charge DRASTICALLY with only using CO2 or Nitrous, but CO@ is much cheaper. Keep playing with it. The Stillen Kit gets a bad rap for being underpowered, but it really can work out fine as loneg as you aren't looking for 500Whp.
The problem is that HP is addictive and now I want more so probably time for a change to Turbo, but please don't disregard the joys of power on demand that the Stillen has to offer!

BLN - I THINK Eliminator was referring to people claiming a .4-.5 drop in their ET with just the gear change & not the gear change + the Stillen.
As far as the NX piece goes, just be careful in how close the intake filter is to the NTercooler nozzles. If U use nitrous then U will potentially turn the spray into a "dry" shot system & lean things out. Inversely, CO2 can make things run rich by displacing the oxygen - again, if it gets sucked into the air filter assembly. I've looked into that system & also the AquaMist water injection systems for our hot Louisiana weather ( still deciding ).
Which turbo system R U considering? Twins or single? Just curious because if the Vortech doesn't work out as I plan then I'll be switching myself.
Then I'll have to apologize to all the guys on this & the G35Driver site who've been telling me to go turbo since day one!!
Hey, I hadn't planned on building an AEBS stroker - thanks, Gurgen!!

Gene,
I am considering the Greddy Kit mainly because of Sharif at Forged sells it and they are not so far from me. I think I can get into that kit even with removing the Stillen and getting a tune for under 10K installed. We'lll see.....

My stillen is running 8 lbs of boost and is running lean. Had a 1.897. 60 ft time but had no top end power. When i swithched to 100 octane gas I could not launch the car has it just spun the tires and had tons of top end. The stillen valve body works great and the first to second gear change is fast. I would say that the gear change helped the AT change gears quicker.
What tires did you run ? I ran on stock toyo's and into a 25 mile an hour head wind and my best run with a 2.009, 60 ft time was 13.0. Now with slick's on 15 inch rims and a torque converter plus a few ecu mods with a bigger 7 th. injecter it should make 320 RWHP and run 12.5 to 12.6. The blower is being modified and it should make 345 RWHP. It will be interesting to see what it will run then. We are working on putting a M 92 blower on the stillen kit and at 10 lb it should make 450 to 460 at the wheels.
These are estimated numbers from the eaton horsepower charts.
Will post my times when the modifications are finnished next June.
