Default Vortech, greddy, procharger.. which to buy?

Ill be going FI soon. Im looking into the greddy tt, vortech, or procharger. Whoch would you guys recommend? I want good power but I also want safe power that wont blow the motor. I want to stay around 375 or maybe 400. Any input would be great! Also on another note. Which would be the easiest to self-install?

If you want safe power, don't get Greddy...

The Vortech with stock pulley would be ideal for you. I've found it to be completely trouble free after 7-8K miles with more power than I'll ever need and very safe--even with the factory tune right out of the box. I've followed the various boards closely and have seen precious few blown engines with the stock Vortech and a good tune. If you're particularly concerned about your engine's longevity, just stay away from redline--that's the max stress you can put on the engine at WOT. I don't usually bring mine over 6K and at that RPM the car is like a rocket.

I have had the Procharger for about 6k miles so far and it has been great. I did add the JandS Safegaurd from the get go and the system has been flawless. A great tune goes a long way with any system.

With some upgrades and a good tune, the Greddy kit can be just as safe as the others.

what kind of price ranges are we looking at? Im really looking into vortech because the price it right and its a good company. So basically the vortech is a bolt on with a good amount of power and user friendly?

Rbaldinell2 where did you get you procharger? ANy problems so far? Who tuned it for you?

I got it in Plano Tx at Keith Craft Motorsports. There the closest dealer near me. Me and another guys had them do the installs and tune. I G, 1 Z. The shop was great and like I said, we haven't had any problems at all. The SC was pretty loud at first, but now its really quiet. I have really enjoyed my setup. It puts down 373 rwhp.

You might also consider a ST kit. The Turbonetics Single Turbo kit makes around 380 RWHP at 8 PSI is very safe and reliable and is VERY affordable. Prices from $4300-4700

Some thing more to think about . More and more Im seeing guys get FI kits be it SC, ST, or TT that can't even change spark plugs , tighten belts , change the oil , or even jack up the car . Thats ok if your made of cash . But you should be willing and able to learn and get to know your kit .Learn what makes it work and the basics of FI . So if and when you take it to a shop to have something done , its less likely they [ the shop ] will be able to rip you off or charge you for stuff that doesnt need to be done

You have a point booger. Me and my very good friend will install it and make sure all is well and then I will look around for a good shop that I can trust wont screw me over.

Miaplaya,
I will consider that. Thats a very good price and 380 is what Im looking for. Does that price include intercooler? Is that kit an easy bolt on like the vortech? Does anyone on here have that ST kit yet? I havent seen a post yet.

im just curious as to what other people usually change as an addition to the vortech kit.. or do they simply just buy the vortech and slap it on?

Definitely consider a single turbo kit, either Turbonetics or APS.... they're both complete out of the box and comparable price-wise to the superchargers, but have better torque down low.

Yes the price includes the turbo, intercooler, wastegate, bov, fuel pump, injectors, and relfash for tune. The kit is as easy to install as the Vortech. I have this same kit as do several board members. Over 10k miles no issues.

Check with www.avalonracing.net or there is a group buy for the kit for $4200 right now. I am running the stock clutch and flywheel right now. my car made 380 RWHP at 8 PSI and 390 RWHP at 9 PSI. I got mine direct from Turbonetics as I was their test car but Avalon Racing can get that for you or the Group Buy of course. PM me for more details.

Ok I went with the turbonetics st. I also got a borla exhaust coming and also the jetclutch and fly combo. What kind of numbers can I expect here? Would it help to get a plenum spacer? What about new spark plugs? Im a newbie here so any info as to what to add would be great.
