Thumbs up need help choosing turbo or blower for australia

im in australia and am new to the 350z, last car a WRX STI, which would pants the 350z no worries so......, i need go fast advice from a few guys. My problem is this.....

1. the only Twin turbo kit available in oz is APS and 15k

2. then single is an option, its just i dont like the sound of hanging only one turbo off a V6 engine (unbalanced exhaust......) has anyone had any pros and cons to report???

3. the centrifugal blowers take too long to develop boost...... i drove a vortex one and quite frankly at 6lb it didnt blow my hair back.

4. the new dream workes caught my eye because no bonnet mods needed and its a roots type blower so it should boost better at lower rpm from what i understand, is it too new??? not enough market testing??

5. should i just concentrate on NA mods.......will they make a considerable difference to standard???

luke

and hello everyone from a newbie

hello luke

if your planning on spending some cash on go fast bits

go NA, that way you can whip the pants of your wrx buddies with no FI

i believe about 10k will get you there and you will be pulling better 1/4 times then FI zeds, better traction

that will annoy them

im not a pro on the zed engine mods but if i was spending $$ i would rather NA, thats just my opinion,
then again a TT zed would be pretty sweet..

welcome to the 350z side..

Hi Luke,

If money is an issue I would recommend importing an APS ST from overseas (cheaper and quicker to install than the twins and you still get the turbo torque surge the Vortex was missing, Turbonetics not really an option because it requires ECU reflash in the US), get it shipped to you cheaply (sea freight possibly) and only pay some of the import duties, then find someone to install and get it tuned. If you do the math you'll save a bit and have a killer car and you wont have to worry about WRXs.

Dreamworks is a pipe dream.

FYI MRRIZK has a HKS Supercharger installed on his Au 350z, ZTRACK has the APS TT, someone else with a Stillen Supercharger and Z350Lover has gone the NA route. If your interested in their thoughts they are on 3 5 0 z - t e c h.com (remove spaces) in the Australia section.

Read around on this board. It will cost you twice as much and you still won't beat a FI Z in the 1/4 if you go the NA route. From what I have seen and read on this board no one has even crossed over 305whp with na mods, but there are Z's and G's putting down over 600whp with FI.

+1 There is no way a NA Z that spends $10k will beat a FI Z with $10k worth of FI goodies. Don't waste your time on NA mods. I could have saved a few thousand if I would have never bought any NA mods. Lag is negligable with the proper turbo(s) and that is the only possible con with FI.

15000 for a TT kit??? Man what is the conversion rate!!! Buy it from the US and have it shipped to you!

Near as I can tell its like 1.3 conversion... thats only $9750 throw on some shipping... Maybe 10K?

I think he is talking about being tuned and all the extras(exhaust, test pipes, clutch, etc.) Maybe?

Maybe you should consider importing the GReddy TT kit. It should still be cheaper than the APS kit. Or you can get the Turbonetics ST tuner kit (w/o fuel management) and just get your own fuel mgt.

Greddys wont fit because of the exhaust manifold (plus they arent a complete kit, so the price would go up to similar to the APS TT once you've bought all the extra parts) and judging by the exhaust manifold used by Turbonnetics, I dont think it would fit either.
