Default SHE'S BACK! APS Single but problem

Well, I finally drove my car again.... I'm still being a wuss about it and going relatively easy for break in reasons. I'll expand this later but for now a list of stuff.

Added:
APS ST, ATS Carbon Clutch, ATS Differential, GReddy Evo2 exhaust (Needed quite a bit of fabrication) Clear Corners headlights (Still waiting on markers) KurumaZ Urethane Nismo bumper (Style? Replica? Whatever)

So most important for me to announce, I feel. The car is not "Daily drivable".. Power is great and smooth, traction, as much as I have pushed it is fine. Problem... you hit EVERYTHING. You bottom out left and right.. Speed bump? BANG steep driveway? BANG. Two things are hitting. One is the exhaust. One falange sticks reallllly low. The other thing hitting is the heat shield supplied by APS. We are going to see if we can push the exhaust around but I will tell you, I don't think it has anywhere to go. I have the car on Tein's so I might try and raise it half an inch, see if that helps it, but that's going to be a real shame.

I love the car and will write more but so far I only have 250 miles on it. Broke in the dif doing figure 8s... I got a crowd, why I dunno it was just me driving in a freaking 8 but people were interested. I figure I am going to baby it until 1000 miles, drain everything, fill it back up and go around beating on it. I did get a little fistey tonight on the road home... 4th-5th 140 comes up disgustingly fast and I probably shouldn't be doing that on the car at this time. Will report more when I can.

Oh also forgot to mention... I also have that really rough low RPM rattle from something under the car. Apparently several other people have experienced this with the APS ST

Hey Jergens,

I am also lowered on Teins and it is pretty low. I was initially disappointed at that as well. Oh well....I just got used to it and am very careful around anything nowadays. I scraped several times in the beginning but I know the limits now...just be as careful as possible...

What kind of numbers are you putting down by the way?

yeah i scrub occasionally too with my tiens but my G is dropped pretty low, im gonna raise it just a bit, i know of somebody who cut and rotated the whole assembly on the downpipe and rewelded it to raise it up. thats a good idea. or just get rid of that 4bolt flange and weld those 2 peices together.

How do you like your ATS parts?

I also have both , but since my G is still under knife I have yet to drive em yet.

Slo you may be able to get extr clearnce by replaceing that 4-bot flange with soenthing like a V-band.

The rattle is the ATS clutch. Congrats on the car. Very nice selection of parts!

Hey guys here is the update.

Tim, one thanks on the props and two, you're 80% right.. the ATS clutch IS making most of the noise The other noise is coming from the turbo "Cavitating" in low RPMs which is shaking against a sub frame. We figured out how to squeeze some things around to seperate the two piece of offending metal and it shouldn't rattle anymore... YES!

Next- Overheating hasn't been an issue in the first 300 miles. The water temp stays stable. I don't have the oil temp gauge in there yet. Right now I have boost, Oil pressure and voltage (Due to my audio and such, have a lot pulling on the alternator) in the old stock positions. I will probably add an engine oil temp, AF and an EGT gauge in the "nav" system cubbie. When I pop the hood to let it cool while running, it does throw off a lot of heat, but not too bad. No worse than my buddy's M3. Our engines run hot even before I put the turbo on.

Zman- As for numbers we haven't dynoed it yet. In fact car went back in the garage today for fluid changes, odd inspection, and we're going to rework some things (Like looking into that exhaust fix) Should be dynoing by November if JapTrix stays on schedule. If not, well I dunno I guess I can have it done at Petitt w/o tuning, but I'll probably just wait.

G3po (Nice name =)) As for the ATS, from the little bit I have run the car so far I am very pleased. The clutch is rather polite, but one thing you have to learn is to def restrain half clutching (Or so I am being told and trying). The LSD , well I broke it in but haven't sent the car careening through any crazy turns yet. It isn't making any problems and on the one pretty hard highway pull I made I am going to say the car traction seems to be getting help from the Dif unit compared to the other two boosted Z's I've ridden in. Maybe it's the APS kit, maybe it's my mind or maybe a combo of the three. I'll keep everyone posted and I got some shots of her tonight.. need to upload them though and the idiot I am I left my USB cable up in Tampa.

Zman- Yeah not a bad idea (smells rich) The car is going to be down for 2 weeks before I do any more driving so I'll probably take it in and have everything checked. Thanks for the help so far folks...

Right now the dyno should arrive within a week and Unichip training will be in the middle of November.

Hey thanks Gus. If the dyno is going to be here next week I'll probably have Tyler take the car over to get some numbers and get the A/F reading, then wait until November and go again to do the tuning work.

How long before they will start tuning on the EU? I want to get the SGP waste gates installed and then have my car retuned.
