HELP! Having a weird problem after driving in heavy rain
I came back 2 days ago from driving in heavy rain during my 5 hour road trip back from AAM. When I was driving back, I noticed that I couldn't get in boost. I didn't really think anything of it at the time because all I really wanted was to get home safe and get some sleep.
So I started her up yesterday to see if the car was okay. Everything started up fine, but as soon as I tried to go past 3000RPM, the car would buck, not allowing me to rev higher. So I'm starting to think that I probably got the intake wet from the heavy rain on my way back. Limp mode? Sounds just like the symptoms.
I just started her about an hour ago to go to the local Autozone to get some electrical contact cleaner to clean the MAF thinking it might be the reason. So on my way there, I drove pretty conservative. I then decided to see if I can accelerate past 3000 RPM. I gradually got the RPM up to 4000 so then I attemted to get into boost. First attempt, YAY! I got the car to go in boost(about 2-3 PSI) Then I tried it again, ****! Now the car doesn't past 2000 RPM! The car starts bogging and I just drove under 2000 RPM back home because I don't think it's the MAF anymore.
Here's the things I tried and looked at:
1)Unpluging the MAF
2)Resetting the ECU using the Technosquare method
3)Check all intercooling piping connections
4)Check the oil cap to see if water got into my engine
I seriously thought the MAF freaked out or worst, got damaged but I'm not sure if this is the case anymore. BTW, I didn't get a CEL or VDC light that others had when they went into limp mode.
Did this ever happened to anyone before? I'm hoping that something is still wet and that it needs to dry out. I'll just have to wait till this sh!tty weather goes away and everything to dry up.
Any suggestions?

It does sound like thats the case. However, my car never stalled and no lights on the dash came on. Everything is normal until I try to get into boost. I'm praying that all I have to do is to wait for everything to dry out.
I definately know that water is the culprit. But, waiting here for everything to dry up and hoping it will solve my problem is killing me. Any advice on what I should do to speed up the process or diagnose further to see the maximum damage?
If water really got into my engine, I really don't think it's alot or my car wouldn't start? The funny thing is, my car never stalled or any CEL/SLIP/VDC lights.
I checked the oil cap when I came home and it doesn't look to be water in the oil. I'm going to check the dip stick in a few.

sound like a small amount of water got it way into the piping.perhap residence in the intercooler right now.
because it's a small amount,it not enough to cause lights on or stall the car but underboost, some of the moisture suck out and onto the MAF sensor which cause the car to limp.
solution= let the car run idle but not for a long perior of time or disconect the pipes, concentrate on the intercooler and filters areas.tools you might need = wet & dry vacuum, blow dryer and dry towels.good luck

You definately did not get water into anything except some of your wires causing it to freak out your ecu.......... your lucky you could even drive my car wouldnt even start up.. and once it finally did 4 hours later it would only rev to 2500 RPM. With this weather try to find a dry spot to let everything dry out.....My SES light went on from the unstable idle. As soon as i went to autozone they took it off and it never came back. I was the "Vortech...PLEASE HELP" thread. You'll be fine you should definatly check all your wires and close everything up. I have never had a problem from rain only 1 time from a high pressure car wash. Good Luck
