I did something very similar with my center console ;however I moved the hazard button and put 3 DEFI gauges across. The hazard button wires are easy to extend and there is a convenient little knock out down by the hood latch lower left were the OEM hazard button fits into perfectly.
Also I just mounted my gauges flush , too lazy to go thru all the bondo work.

I ment the bracket. I moved it with my console but I had to JB weld it onto the console.
I just removed the bracket altogether and dremeled off the mounting point from behind. I used a three gauge Din mount I got from E-guage and flushed it into the console. The four remaining clips at the bottom are enough to hold the console in place.
