Anybody think it would be a good idea to Jethot coat the crossover or do a thermal wrap?

Anything you Jethot coat on a turbo car is a good idea...is it necessary...no...would it help...probably...

 

I'm thinking of Jethot coating the entire exhaust side. That would be sweet. But I understand the factory was hit pretty bad by hurrican Katrina.

They were but I think they are back in business. And yes that would be a great idea. If I could afford to have my car down for a week I would do the same...

 

I would do thermal/heat wrap... Infact I was going to go ahead and do that for most of the exhaust piping... After my trip back from NC, hwy driving above 80mph I started to feel some heat under my legs... And looking under the car... Wouldn't hurt to wrap some of that

 

Header wrap would be better for that peice. I have my entire exhaust side piping wrapped in the stuff. Cuts down on the heat a LOT.

 

You might also want to consider a thermal blanket for the turbine housing to help keep the under hood heat down a bit.

thats cool. my mailbox is locked so no mail can be recieved. I got it fixed today. That is why I asked.. Anyways I got the car back. runs well but at about 164 miles on it the service engine soon light came on. Any idea why?

 

Might be 0300 code...if it is disregard...pretty common on all boosted cars...

 

How can I fix that? pvt me so this we dont ruin this thread..

 

LOL...Didn't know there was one included in the kit. The blanket completely wraps and fits the contours of the housing whereas the shield loosly forms around it. It seems the shield is more for protecting what may be around the housing that could possibly come in contact with it. The blanket serves the same purpose but also significantly cuts down on the heat as well. If I'm not mistaken asbestos, or a form of it, is used in the thermal blanket.

 

Hmmm its possible...although I know Turbonetics bills them as heat shields..maybe I'll get a blanket and see if it makes a difference...

Yes you can... But it involves disassembling the turbo...Only do it if you are comfortable with that..

Well I would also do something about covering the driver side header, and I def. agree that it will cut the heat alot...

Also many cars with big turbo's don't even use a heat shield like what Turbonetics has given in their kit... And it works well, I would think a blanket would be over kill along with getting nasty after some time if it got wet and soapy
