Default How not to build your motor

I know it's a DSM....but it gives some valuable hints on how not to get your torque specs, how not to use spray gasket beside a bare block, how not to...............

Think it will last??? Has nobody ever heard of a clean room for building a motor???

Yeah it wasn't the greatest place for a motor build and I def. agree about the spray gasket...but, i'm sure it could have gone a lot worse. From the sound of your post I thought it was getting built on the floor or something

Im still d/l the clip.

Because DSMs break parts so often their owners and their cars a completely different bread.
Plus, its alot more labor to work on our cars them almost all I4s.

That spray is something of a copper based glue that makes gaskets adhere even tighter to metal. My engine builder used it on my turbo manifold gaskets, head gaskets, and a few other places. It suppose to work great and can be bought at most auto parts store. Although my builder didnt spray it on that thick and wet, they gave a lighter even coat over the gaskets.

My issue was not with the use of the product....it was spraying it in the area of a motor being assembled.

I don't know enough to realize what they're doing wrong, other than to rely on what you guys are saying. No only would I like to see it run, I'd love it if someone did a video like this for the VQ (please use different music though).

little tiny specs of the copper anywhere (if some carried over to the motor) wouldn't hurt anything. so small and the copper would be alot softer than any of the moving parts in the motor. i see what your saying though, i maybe would have sprayed it near the ground and not over the motor, lol
