hey all, i am going to have my Greddy emanage installed soon on my Z to do alittle tunning. i have read up on the emanage, but not to much info on NA motors. i was wondering it it is good to have the ignition/timing harness installed for the tune (many say it blows the coils). i am not totally sure about this, so i could really use the feedback. thanks in advance

If you are using the Emange blue then you need to install diodes to prevent blowing coils. Just never leave the key in the on position without the car running and you will be fine.
You do not have to use diode with the EU, but still don't leave the key in the on position without the car running and you will be fine.
Greddy is working on a fix for this.

I live in Homestead.
The emanage blue will give you benefits if you need adjustments based on your current AF ratio, the ignition harness is not needed imho although it can advance or retard, I would just suggest a consult timing advance by the dealer and avoid any potential problems with burning coils.

Gus your are right again!!!!! nicely done sir!!! looks like japtrix will only be doing fuel wire, but what is this about the dealer retarding/advanceing time? will it benefit in more HP for me? ooo and would pam nissan be able to do it for me????

My Z was one of the 1st if not the 1st NA Z with a Emanage Ultimate. Before sharif tuned the car I think I was putting down 255rwhp after the tune we came up with 272.9rwhp(have the dyno to prove it). Now I currently have the following things done to the Z, Crawford Plenum and HiFlo Cats, KJR Pulley, JWT Popcharger, Injen Exhaust and the Greddy EU. Please understand that I think that I have a freak motor because there are not to many people putting those #'s down with out cams or headers. And I have a feeling that when I add those parts plus tuning with race gas we should be above 300rwhp. The emanage ultimate is a VERY effective tuning option for NA cars but only if a competent tuner is doing it. There are only 2 people that I would even remotely trust and thats sharif at Froged Internals and eric at CPrace. Please talk to sharif he can lead you in the right direction and i would also go ahead and get the TS flash for rev limit which i think is the spec 2 flash.

If you are running the eManage blue, on an NA car, you cannot advance the timing, even with the timing harness. As Gus mentioned, you can only dial in the AF's.
Ideally, the eManage Ulitimate is your best solution for an NA car. It allows you to preceisly add and subtract fuel via IPW adjustments directly, and can advance and retard the timing. It displays real-time timing advance, and allows you to log more inputs than you can shake a stick it.
I really would like to dispell this thing with the blown coils, as it seems to be popping up with ever increasing frequency. Under normal conditions, the eManage Ultimate will NOT burn coils. The only instance where coils can be damaged, is when you leave the key in the on position with the engine NOT running...for an extended period of time.
Yes I didn't clearly state that the consult advance would be all the time not varied, I just think that for an NA application it is just a simpler way to go than to do timing with a piggyback specially the emanage blue which I believe he already has.
Another option would be the unichip

I may be wrong but I do believe that the dealer can only adjust by 2 degrees at least that was when I was at GRUBBS new updates could have brought about since then.
See this is how rumors get started.

if you are geting the greddy tt installed soon, why pay to get the car tuned twice and just wait and get it tuned once with the tt set up. you won't gain much at all with the n/a tune, specially if you are still mostly all stock. save the money and do it once.
