Default Journal of APS ST install on G35 Coupe

All show...no go

How many times have we heard this cliche? Too numerous for me to remember.

Well, the time has come and the parts are here. My APS ST install has begun. Since the engine bay is getting color matched, the install will be drawn out over a month period and I will do my best to update this thread for those who are interested.

This is my very first time doing anything this big. If you want a beginner's perspective on jumping in on FI, then this is it. I've never driven a FI car. Only sat in Ted's TT 350Z once. That's it.

And so it begins...

-Install and tuning is being performed by Ted over at Scott Performance in Santa Clara.
-Paint will again be taken care of by the folks over at Image Autobody (650.755.8324) in South San Francisco
-Powdercoating is in the hands of Mike Golding out in Georgia (imspud@bellsouth.net)
-The parts (turbo kit and gauges) arrived courtesy of South Coast Performance
-Other parts such as the A-pillar pod were orderd through Intense Power (which by the way has excellent customer service) and Innovate Wideband A/F ordered through Injected Performance

Check out my website for updated info. If I am not mistaken, I may be the first single turbo'd G35 in Northern California. I know there's a bunch of you TT'd cars out there. Take it easy on me when you roll-up

Now to some random pics...

APS Plenum

APS ST Boxes w/ G35 supplemental kit

Defi BF Imperial Gauges

Goal will be a daily driven car hitting 350-375 rWHP on stock internals

just wondering why you went the route of single over the twin turbo if you were having your engine pulled thats already half of the labor.

to answer your questions in regards to why ST over TT:

TT would have cost me an additional $1500. Much better spent to get nice gauges, extra paint, cams, etc. ST offers me the horsepower goal I am after. For the time being, this car will be a daily driven show car.

My concerns with having a 450+ rWHP car are traction and longevity of stock internals.

I believe the downside for a ST is my car will not be legal when it comes time for smog check. I'll cross that bridge in 2009.

After some delays with my ST, I seriously did consider going the TT route, but that thought quickly disappeared when the ST kit arrived.

the car is back at Scott's Performance and the new JWT clutch is installed. Staying with the stock flywheel to reduce the chatter caused by lighter flywheels.
