Default TS vs AAM

Why does the TechnoSquare reflash seem to be more prominent than the Altered Atmosphere one? As some of you read in other of my threads I'm about to go ProCharged and it seems like more people go with AAM than with TS... just wondering...

I asked this on the G forums... but it never got a reply

ts came out 1st. aam and ts ecu use the exact same technology to do the flash. I believe the aam is cheaper.

whether is cheaper or not I have no idea

but the reason why people prefer with AAM is that you can take your car to AAM and they can dyno tune YOUR car according to YOUR mods, while seeing the results of AFR and timing changes LIVE.

Whereas with a TS flash, you're buying an off-the-shelf flash, which is a good one, just not one that is custom made to fit your mods.

Depending on your mods, almost always you'll make more power with a dyno tuned flash that is custom made for your car for the obvious reasons.

what is boils down to is that u should have researched this b4 u bought ur pro charger. once u go FI its never straight right out of the box. there is always something u would need to do. "U have to pay to play"

I have a Tecnosquare flash, and I wouldnt say my flash is off the shelf. I sent in my latest dyno with a/f and they tuned accordingly-also using their countless hours of exxperience with Z and mods to tune. My a/f is a PERFECT 13.1 across the board from 2500-7100(Im still NA). I have seen 4 or 5 AAM reflashes now, both NA and FI and Ive never seen them tune an A/F ratio as straight as my "off-the-shelf" Technosquare is tuned, so I would have to say I agree with your thinking, but Ive never seen an AAM reflash that proves it. In other words looking at my dyno and A/F and looking at somebody that had it done at AAM, you would think mine was tuned in house and not theirs. There is a local guy here that Ive seen his dyno printout in person, his A/F was all over the place, not exactly what I would expect from "in house" tuning. IMO TEchno does a great job, especially with Greddy TT reflashes. I have never heard of a Greddy TT motor letting go when tuned with the Greddy specific Tecnosquare flash.

then I would have to question the competency of the tuners at AAM if that is really the case.

But yes, we do agree here in theory. Custom made flash to your mods and to your car is always better. More so in FI than in NA since there are more variables in FI.

Lindsay, whys it matter if I have researched this part or not before or after I bought the kit? I know I have to go with one of them... so as long as its done in conjunction with all of my other mods all at once... whats the difference? I have researched, just thought I'd ask a question.

Thanks guys!

if you get a perfect mail-order reflash, consider yourself very lucky. Each car, oftentimes, requires some additional fine tuning to get things perfect. If you live near AAM, by all means, stop in and have them dyno tune/reflash. But since you are in Texas, mail order is probably the way to go. Just get it dyno checked when done.

Is a flash even needed with the E-Manage Ultimate? I know the main reason I've hear so far are because of the auto tranny in regular D won't shift fast enough so the redline needs to be raised. But because I have an 04.5 the shifting was upgraded and they aren't even sure if I'll have that problem - and definately won't in MM.

We did an 05 auto tranny 350Z, and it still didnt want to shift out of 1st gear under heavy throttle at 400whp. A reflash isnt needed with the EU, but the L-Spec is worthwhile, becuase it raises the rev limit, and eliminates the speed limit.

Well, first gear comes up so quickly that you have little chance of a clean shift...even in M mode. After that, it takes some timing to get clean shifts in manual mode, but its doable. But in D....forgetaboutit.

that's a good question.. so wouldn't having a shift lite help with a cleaner shift?

Just want to point out that if you go the AAM route, you will pay the same price (or similar) to TS for the "reflash"... that is with no fuel mapping change... the "custom tune" from AAM is an additional expense of about $300-400 on top of the "reflash" cost (at least, that's what I paid when i went to AAM...)
