On a more serious note, dude that totally blows that your car is totaled. You had it for like a week. I would be flippin pissed. Glad you are okay. Damn that is crappy.

Oh man, I completely missed the other reply about you getting in an accident. Very sorry to hear man. You said it smashed the door? Is there a lot of engine damage as well? If not you might be able to regain most of the engine and use it in your next Z.

For us, we break the motors in for 50-100miles on conventional oil, and then tune them to full power, just after switching to synthetic. Making good power..with good leak-down and compression results...so that is what we do. Others may advocate a longer break in period, and there is nothing wrong with that method either.

The only piece that requires a longer than normal break-in on these built motor'ed cars, is the twin and triple disc carbon clutches. ATS now recommends 1000 mile easy break in before excessively slipping the clutch.
It has never been proven that a long break-in or a short break in...will have any corrolation to engine longevity or engine power. That is why there are about 3 dozen theories on proper engine break-in technique.

Nissan's recommended break-in period is 1200 miles...NOT 5000+. What are you smoking?

It also depends on the power level. If you are building an engine and tuning it to 500whp, you can get away with a slightly shorter initial break-in period, vs. a 600whp+ monster.
