opinions on vortech SC
i'm debating goin with the vortech SC, but it seems like nobody goes for the SC these days....i recently owned a turboed car and i'm just not wanting to deal with all the **** that i did with it, and the SC seems like less of a hassle with less problems
just wondering who all has a SC and their opinions of it, or do they regret not goin Twin Turbo, and why

If you're looking to avoid headaches, I don't think Vortech is your answer. While its a good product, its far from trouble free. From all the research I've done so far, the Turbonetics turbo kit leads the way in trouble free forced induction and APS TT is a pretty close second. The key to reliable performance is to do some research on what has worked for the members on this forum with the product already. Learn from their experiences.

Really? My Vortech S/C kit has been trouble free and I've clocked some 6000 miles on it. I did break my tensioner pulley bolt messing around with underneath the hood, but if I could just quit 'tinkering' with the kit and leave well enough alone I would not have had one problem.

I think it's a great choice if you want few or no issues. It's biggest drawback is you are more limited in upgrading it later.

+3 Have put on 14,000 plus miles since installation. Would recommend getting it tuned. Familiarize yourself with adjusting the belts, cleaning or changing blower filter, plus remove, inspect and clean the oil inlet fitting and it is trouble free.

I had a Vortech on my previous Zed. Had one issue, when the fuel line blew out, but im sure that has been rectified. I've got APS twins now, and it doesnt even compare. Alright the turbo's are much more expensive, but I think the torque alone is worth it. I didnt like the noise from the Vortech, makes the car sound like a diesel. Its a good value kit though, no danger.
I think for the money single turbo is a better option, gives you more choice for upgrades.
FI is good!

I would first find a shop that you trust and has installed what ever kit you decide on . The Vortech SC will get you 320 to 370whp depending on what dyno you use . It can be upgraded with different pullies to get you 350 to 425whp , again depending on the dyno you use . If you can tighten a serp belt and adjust a BOV , thats just about all you'll have to do . The kit is easily tuned by your local tuner , installer . No sending off the ECU or Unichip [ APS ] to get it tuned . On the down side ....It does make a whistle from the BOV that some like and others hate . You can add a filter to the end of the BOV to reduce the whistle . At idle the blower can make a [bad bearing] sound , but most have been able to get rid of it by getting the cog belt adjusted right.
Again , find a good shop thats installed and tuned the kit before . Good luck , have fun.....Bill

i really don't like the hp/tq curve of single turbos and the TT kits are a lot of money and a lot of people have traction issues with all of them. No one really has traction loss with the vortech kit and yet still puts down some nice numbers. The big torque is giving people the traction issues with the ST and TT kits

4+ on the Vortech SC. I've had mine on for 10K with zero problems. I got 380 rwhp out of the box on a Dynojet and tuning it just made it a bit less rich. The car basically kicks a$$.
The critical thing is to have a perfect installation. I did part of it and had a pro finish it off and check my work. You do have to clean the oil nozzle with each oil change at 3K. A bit of an extra hassle but not too hard to do yourself.
