Thanks
Thanks
I think they should have just used a pair of GT28RS off the shelf instead of a completely new hybrid.

We are both wrong - I dug and found the correct info:
The turbos are Garrett GT2535R Water-Cooled Ball-Bearing Turbochargers
It is a new hybrid specced by APS for Garrett to produce to match the VQ35DE. What the alphanumeric name means is, the turbine side uses the GT25 housing and the compressor uses a GT35 housing.

That turbo is the turbo used in the ST setup, not the twin,
You cannot get these (GT2535R) direct from Garrett. they are made solely for APS

You are right- this is too confusing:
"APS twin turbo system are actually a GT 2871R, the turbo model terminology was changed by Garrett approx 4 months ago"

The TT setup runs GT2535R turbos which are now called GT2871R

Can any APS owners or dealers shed some light on this I looked up a GT2871R and a GT2835R, they do not look like the turbos on the APS website...

When David from APS visited us at Enjuku Racing, he informed us that the turbo was a GT2871R but he was using a compressor cover from that of a Skyline GT-R N1 due to the nature of the compact design that the turbo(s) required in this particular application.

As an update, I was provided with this info....directly from APS:

The reason you are having a difficult time finding more info from Garrett is the fact that these turbos are manufactured exclusely for APS for use in their kits.

I'd like to know why on the compressor side the APS turbo is indentical on the outside to the GT25R? It would be great if some one from Garrett could address this... Someone has to have access to both turbos...

They were only familar with GT2835R set up for HKS... Which was on display at the booth... Not trying to call any one out... Kinda makes you wonder....

Second, why does any of this really mater? You know the capabilities of the turbos and how they perform.

And to me it does matter if a manufacture claims something, and there is conflicting concrete visual proof it may be something else...
PS Very clean car.... I love my SPX177R's
