Parts for build - Big HP
Hello everyone.. Im new to this forum, and Im actually new to the 350Z also
Im from Denmark and I just purchased my 350Z.. I was torn between the Supra mk4 and the Z. Since my goal was big numbers, the Supra was the obvious choice.. However I do love the Z, and even though there might not be as many high powered Z's out there as Supras, I still think they have alot of potiential.. I love this car guys
Cut to the case..
Im aiming for +700 crank hp, so a total build will obviously have to be done. Now since Im all new to Nissan and dont know where to get, what go get, what NOT to get ect.. Thats where you guys come in I have like zero experience with Nissan engines and this car is actually the first Nissan I've ever owned..
Now here is a list with basic mods I've thought about.. Please jump in and let me know of any improvements or if you have anything to add.
Since I'll have to change rods and pistons anyway, I was thinking I might aswell go with a stroker kit which includes balanced crank, heavy duty rods and forged low compression pistons (suitable for a turbo setup). I've heard something about a 4.3L stroker kit but haven't really found much info on it.. So is it any good? 4.3L sounds a little extreme on a 3.5L in my ears so Im a little sceptical about it, but I've seen 3.8L stroker kits which sounds a little more realistic so.. What about bearings, does Nismo make any good ones or what should I get in that area? the same questions goes for main & head studs/bolts..?
I will also need some HD Valve springs like ferrera or HKS.
264 or 272 degree in/ex cams..
And maybe a complete headjob..
I might go with the AEM EMS fully programmable management system, let me know your thoughts on this..
What about fuelsystem? I know alot of companys out there makes complete fuelsystem upgrades with everything needed for Supras, Skylines ect.. Does anyone make this for the Z ?
I haven't found any turbo kits what will produce anything near theese numbers.. The most I've found was about 450 crank hp I think, so if you guys know of any, please let me know. Also let me know your thoughts and experience with the parts I've listed, and let me know if you have anything to add or would change/not do..
As you can see I have the basic upgrades planned, but thats pretty much it. I need some pointers
Thank you for reading along guys.

That might have come out wrong.. Im not sure I will get the Stroker kit, it depends very much on the price, and I've only seen the Jun kit which hauls about $12K which is a lil' on the steep side for me.

700 crank hp is under 600whp, the Greddy TT kit or the APS kits is good for you.
If you are going to run a dedicated EMS system, and fuel system, etc...the Greddy TT is a better choice for a high power built application. Or you could do the APS tuner kit. Both have plenty of airflow for 600whp +
Take a look at "how to do twins" thread in the sticky section. And my advice is to spend several weeks researching and reading as much as you can. You will need to familiarize yourself with the VQ35, and the various issues and strategies you can employ. There is never one set answer....so take your time...talk to as many people as possible.
You are probably looking at $20K in parts and labor...on the conservative side...and about $30K on the top side estimate.

Kdw2002,
I have recently asked the same question of the group and some of that discussion is here
https://my350z.com/forum/forced-induction/154869-suggestions-on-putting-over-650-to-the-wheels.html
I have finally completed my layout for my build…. And Man is it a WHOPPER. Here is roughly what I have come up with for about 650 rwhp: (Keep in Mind I already have a Greddy TT w/intercooler, Koyo radiator and Oil cooling kits installed)
Arias Extra Duty Pistons
Pauter Connecting Rods w/ ARP bolts
JWT Camshafts
ARP Head and Main Studs
ARP Connecting Rod Bolts
Darton Modular Integrated Deck (M.I.D.) Cylinder Sleeves
Cometic Head Gaskets
Complete Ferrea Valve Train
Port/Polish heads
1000 cc Fuel injectors
ATS Twin disk 1300kg Carbon clutch
ATS 1.5 Differential
Level 5 Axel
AAM Fuel system (get upgrade Pump w reservoir)
AAM Custom true Dual 3’ Exhaust
F-Con Pro Standalone EMS
I am going to Cryo Treat the whole engine and probably ceramic coat the Pistons, Headers, Turbo casings and intake for heat resistance. I know this is all probably unnecessary, but I would rather take some precautions for durability while it is all still in pieces prior to the build.
But I am new at this myself and have been gleaming the information for this build from other members on this board. Sharif, Brandon and the guys at Performance are the ones to listen to along with many others on these boards that have TONS of exposure to the VQ35 engine
Good Luck and keep my SN on file. We can exchange updates back and forth as we get these built.

FYI, Sharif is bang on the nose for the cost. The engine alone is running me about $15k + 5k for the EMS install and tune.

KDW2002:
Just listen to Sharif. If you are using a 18% loss of HP from the crank to the wheels he is pushing well over 700hp. He is pretty much the expert on this subject and he will get you whatever you want.

Just going to throw this idea out there since i've seen it on the Espirit Z.
Sell your VQ and swap in a RB26 and build that engine up. Not an expert on engines but turbo definately gets you the big HP.
