not really the noise.. but the vibrations.... with high boost its very important that the flywheel is balanced...

Tomorrow Ted's gonna put in longer 24" resonators. Apparently I have 18" ones right now. He says that should tone the loudness down like 40%. That would be about perfect -- we'll see.
That's definitely cheaper than buying a whole new exhaust. Hopefully it works out for you. My car is so loud I got a ticket on the FREEWAY for having a loud exhaust. Superchargers don't muffle any sound like turbos do.

But, I like loud cars, so it doesn't bother me.

Bumping this old thread because my FastIntentions 2.5" true dual *may* be limiting my TT (700bb) hp output. Is moving to a dual 3" worth a 20 whp gain (which is all I would surmise I could gain - on a DD dyno).

I love the FI relatively quiet exhaust note. No such thing as a quiet dual 3" exhaust is there? (I am running the APS 3.5" test pipe right off the turbos). On the fence if I should go with the APS 3" dual exhaust - it's just that I'm so close to my goal - ha - probably not worth it...

I'd go with the EVO TT. I was concerned as well with the noise of a larger exhaust going from my Nismo to this exhaust but I'm glad I did. It was a little louder but not by much. But I have 2.5" TPs instead of the 3.5". Is the cost worth the potential hp gain, that's another question I can't answer.

If you have any concerns about the exhaust being too loud, I wouldn't get it. How is the exhaust limiting you? You litterely can't up the boost a 1 lb or two and make the power goal.

The 3" APS is a nice exhaust, but crazy loud. I would recommend to ride in a car equiped with one for a while and see if you can handle it.

IMHO, it isn't worth switching it out for 20hp. I would just find a dyno that reads a tad higher, run your car on it, get a dyno sheet reading that 20 hp higher and call it a day.

Ha ha - you are a smart man. The dyno in question isn't called the heartbreaker for nothing. I will do as you say and just be happy with what I've got.

So what is your goal?

My goal was to get something around 500 that idled perfect and didn't blow up.

500 - check
idle - check
didn't blow up - check, but only 1800 miles on it

My goal was similar. I am at a bit of a disadvantage with a 5AT though. I'm in the ballpark and like you said, I could go to a Dynojet and call it a day -it's just a damn #. I have yet to drive the car - this Sunday is the day!!! Will post something up after I have my baby back and a few hours on the road .

Thanks for the clips - I like the APS 2.5 - it's the 3" one that I'm considering (well was considering) but worried about the noise. Those are the 2.5, right?

Do you think the HKS hi-power would work ok with a TT set up? I really love that exhaust and plan on going FI in the distant future.

just keep in mind with the evoTT, that the exhaust tapers at the point it meets up with the cats/test pipes. You will want to have that section cut out and replaced to remove the bottle kneck
