Question FI system weight - noticeable?

I'm curious on the effect of the weight of FI systems and how that affects the Z's handling, subjectively and objectively: Is the the weight-distribution between F/R wheels noticeable?

Am I correct in thinking TT FI with a FMIC would add around 100lbs?

Does anyone care to chime in?

I did search so search-****s step off, please.

Thanks in advance.

I believe the shipping weight for the turbo kit is around 75-100 lbs including the intercooler and piping, but I would say its less than 100 lbs since you will be replacing the stock headers for the manifolds and pulling out the stock air box in place of the TT's filters.

I am a very picky driver who relies allot on feel of a vehicle and it's dynamics. I for one have not noticed any mentionable differences in the way a Z or a G's balance is effected by the added front weight of most FI kits.

Larger wheels and tyres which are almost always needed to get the necessary traction also add to the overall weight

Not at all in my case, all of the forged wheel and tire sets for both track and street that we use are lighter than the stock OEM wheels and are ALLOT wider.

That's interesting. Im running 9.5 front (245/35) and 10.5 rear (275/35) Volks SF Challenge having switched from OEM Rays - which I know are lighter than the 'stock' alloy we get here in UK.

Anyone know of a link to wheel and tyre weights

Actually in your case I would bet that the 18" OEM RAYS wheels are of course (or should be) a little lighter than the 19" Volk SF Challengers. Even though the Volk SF's are very light for a 19" it is still a 19" and wider wheel compared to a 18" narrower wheel. Aples and oranges.

BTW, nice choice in wheels (the Volk SF Challengers )

Thnx look with the Brembos being more visible IMHO

I've strayed this a bit OT with apologies to halitosis (isn't that bad breath BTW ) so I'm gonna gree with WA2GOOD and say I've noticed no difference in the dynamics since strapping the Vortech kit on

I love the look of SF Challenges but didn't buy them because of their weight.
26 lbs minimum for SF Challenge
18 lbs OEM Rays

Nobody mentions tire weights.
PS2 very light compared to KD's for example.
I have PS2 on order.

Yeah and that WILL make a difference to performance since straightline acceleration is proportional to rotational acceleration of wheels.

Rotational wheel acceleration is proportional to inertia of final drive, a part of which will be inertia of wheels which i turn depends on mass. But it also depends on mass distribution across the wheel and the less mass at the edges the better compared to the centre.

Phew sorry

I noticed losing 30 lbs (battery and SSV manifold)

I'm sure you'll notice gaining 80-100 lbs
