PE is far more complete than the basic greddy............but non the less, stil way too exspensive and not supportive for more than500whp

I tell you what kind of humors me. I know i'm going to get flammed...
There are several of you that LIKE LAG??? I just can't understand that.
I come from the land of MKIV supras and they try to get quickest spooling turbo all the time. If you are worried about to much power at low, then maybe FI is not for you? If i was worried about traction that bad, i would get some really nice drag radials.I mean I understand that you probably still will not get 100% traction but, just don't nail it at WOT all the time

I wouldn't trade my Greddy kit for anything. The spool is fantastic. Power when ever you need it.

I just have to ask.

You have any idea what 500 whp feels like in a Z? And then, do you have an idea the amount of money it will take to turn a 500whp Z into a 700whp Z?

I know we see a lot of posts with guys 500+ whp cars, but the reality is, you get much beyond 400 whp and the game turns from a HP goal into putting that power to the ground.

I'll throw my two pennies in and say get the APS TT kit. If you get near 500whp, I think you will say that is enough power.

it all really depends on what you want in the end. making 500 HP on a stock motor regardless of the kit you are using is very touchy and not something to take on lightly. Has it been done? Sure it has. Does that mean everyone can do it...no. You need to have access to an outstanding tuner regardless of kit and be VERY careful at 500. If anything goes wrong good bye motor. Unless you have the funds to start building your motor now or in the event your motor does let go I would say go for something in the low to mid 400s until you have that kind of reserves. I thing I think all of us overlooks is previous abuse/wear and trear on a motor prior to going F/I. Someone who drives their car civil, doesn't track the hell out of it, has never shot nitrous, etc may have a motor that can holdup a bit better. Even more touch and go is build quality. I'd say its no secret that Nissan's QC on these motors is less then desired. We've all seen bone stock cars ALL OVER the place in regards to power and quality. All this is going to factor in to how long your motor lasts with F/I but when you start pushing the envelope to 500 that margin of safety gets even slimmer..

Thanks again for the replies..

I understand its gonna cost alot of money to achieve 700rwhp, thats a given.. Im gonna do everything gradual start off with around 400rwhp than go for 500rwhp,, than build engine and go for 600+

So far with yoiur guys help i think im leaning more toward the turbonetics kit.. couple reason why are

1. Cheaper and more complete than greddy
turbonetics retail is $5950 w/fmic Greddy is $8000+ w/fmic
2. turbonetics comes with blow off valve
3. both can achieve 500+rwhp
4. install is gonna be much easier.
5. you can see what you paid for (turbo is visible)

So far i found the turbonetics kit for $5000 anybody know where i can get it cheaper? if anyone else is interested in this price let me know

Go for what you think but I've really read lots of nagging issues with TN kits as of late and no real answers to what is happening. Just a thought. I know lots of people like it, but they have to they bought it.

If you're looking for single turbo I'd say APS, they seem to be happy with it and I haven't read too many issues.

A Tk is something you may NOT want to shop for cheapest priced kit. There is a reason why things are cheaper.

Just to clear something up with you the Greddy kit with intercooler can be had for a little more than $5k. Their list price is pretty high but it does not go for anywhere near that. Just wanted to share and here is one for example...but they can be even cheaper than this so just keep your eyes open

http://www.forgedinternals.com/store/home.php?cat=254

Oh and another thing...if you are looking for the most reliable, complete kit and if you are planning to go with a ST, then get the APS ST. PM Alpine..he has them for under 5grand and you do not need anything else unlike these other kits...

Also, GReddy is working on a FMIC that will fit without the bumper being removed.

These prices from Intense Motorsports and mossy nissan are these the current 06 prices?? because i know retail went up..

Also im not going with turbonetics because its cheaper. Im going because i feel its smarter buy.. i really like the greddy kit as well. but according to miaplaya the TN kit can achieve 700+hp wit the upgrade kit thats coming out and he seems to know his ****..

so wats up with this APS single turbo kit.. can you get everything for under 5K?? and does it do a ecu reflash like the TN kit??? does it come with FMIC??

One thing I would question about a 700whp single turbo is, how much lag will you have? With the size of the turbo that comes with the kit lag is not bad but when you start to upgrade to that much hp it can get very bad. Almost too bad to drive in the streets.

Whats the comparison on low end torque when you use a turbo kit, TT or ST?

One thing I think is nice about the Z is the low end torque, and I wouldn't want to loose it.

Also, somebody wrote that you can Turbonetics ST with ALL STOCK safe for around 350 whp. This means I just need to get the turbo and nothing else to make it 350whp??

The posters are correct with their pricing. With the recent price increases on both Turbonetics and Greddy, the Turbonetics is about $4700, and the Greddy is about $5800 (FMIC included), so the street difference in price is about $1100.

buho62, the low end trq of the VQ35 is not diminished with either turbo kit. It is dramatically improved, and slightly moreso with the Greddy.

So if I just want between 300 -375 rwhp it can be done with Turbonetics and all stock? would it be reliable?

My Z is my daily driver, so I just want to some times let it rip, and take it to the track once in a while for fun. I just want a little more power

Yes you'd do 355-370whp on an otherwise stock car with a TN kit. Your a/f's will be very safe, and you dont have to worry about overboosting like a few members have had issues with the kit and very free flowing exhausts. If you just want to slap on a kit and go, TN is the best choice imo....
