Default Decisions...Decisions Which turbo kit to by for a 03 350z

I'm posting for some advice or ideas on which turbo kit to purchace for a 03 350z. I'm looking for a good price, decent power gains and most important, a kit that is very safe on the motor....isn't everyone.

Thanks

I like Greddy and APS. I lean more towards APS (newer technology). Either one will cost you near $14K with install, tune, and supporting mods (clutch, exhaust, radiator). Don't forget some wheels and sticky tires. Add another $4K. Have a nice day.

Lol Joey

I suggest you do TONS of research. 99% of your questions have been asked 100X and answered. Do reasearch and come up with a good choice for you. I went with a TN kit....will easily take me to th limites of the stock block if I choose.

So basically what your saying TK is that if you want a turboed setup you have to be ready to shell out about 20 grand? Maybe i should just stick with NA.

I like that some of the new people catch on fast. You could go a little cheaper with a single turbo or supercharger but expect at the very minimum $8K but you would still want wheels and tires so you are at $12K pretty quick. There are plenty of people on this site that have over $40K in their car (built motor, FI, body kit, paint, wheels) not including the car's price. Nothing wrong with that but at least know what you are getting into.

Well, going FI is expensive in the Z, but there are plenty of FI's out there that can be had for much less than $20k. Someone on here bought a used SC from a forum member for $3k and installed it for around $2k. Don't know about supporting mods though. Going with a single turbo is also an option if you don't/can't afford a twin turbo. Brand new will run $5-6k + install + supporting mods for a single.

So, for instance, the APS TT kit is around $7000. My car is completely stock right now. Other than wheels and tires, what else do I need to buy in addition to this kit? Also, how much HP can a stock VQ35 motor handle.

Exactly what I said. 5-6K + install ($1500)+tune ($500)+clutch/fw ($900 + $250 install) = ~$8-9K (the cheapest route) but who does all that before wheels, audio, and suspension. Wheels ($2500-4000 easy, some more), audio ($1K basic setup - $4-5K something decent with screen), suspension ($1500 springs, sways, install to easily $3000 for sways, coilovers, EDFC, install). All that said if you put the $25K aftermarket into you $25K car, nothing costing $50K would even come close to being as nice or as fast.

$7K for kit + install and tune $2500-$3000 + clutch/fw $900 and up plus $250 install(install possibly free while other work being done) + guages $1000 ($1500 for getter guages) with install + exhaust $1300 + test pipes $250 + larger radiator (safety) $450 + incidentals (stainless steel clutch lines, oil cooler, thermostat) $400 = ~$14K to run safely. I would personally suggest at least building the bottom end ($3K or so) to ensure you won't run into any costly problems. Getting that power to the ground will need good sticky tires ($1600 set plus wheels (whatever you want to put here). I would highly advise getting a little suspension work (sways, coilovers at minimum) so add near $2K but $3K for better stuff. The factory brakes on this car are great but if you want to do a whole lot of spirited driving then at least upgrade the rotors, pads, and lines ($1K) or big brake kit ($2500 - 5000 depending on what you want). These are the top of my head things and I am sure I forgot some. That should yeild near 450rwhp safely(possibly 550rwhp with that built bottom end). Many people are seeing great results with water/methanol injection kits (I don't know the price). I guess that totals out to near $25K.
