Default Vortech Owners...does your blower do this?

Hey guys. Sorry for another chapter in my Vortech book of rattles. I had 2 shops diagnose my problem as the blower and I sent it back to Vortech. Nothing was wrong (so they say) and it still has the same rattle noise from hell.

Anyways...just messing with the cog...i was curious to see if your Vortech makes this same noise on the cog gear....check out the video to see what I am talking about. (thanks guys...I dont have another Vortech anywhere around me so I am forced to do it this way)

http://media.putfile.com/rattle34

or a second video...but same thing really

TIA

I don't think it suppose to sound like that at all. Call Vortech and let them listen to it. That kind of rattling could cause false knock retard and lose hp.

Go to Walmart - Or Sam's Club - Get a Metal Meter Stick

A Metal Yard Stick - Look for a Yellow one. It's both Standard and Metric.

Open your Hood..

Place the Yellow / Silver metal ruler down the Vortech mount.. The Stick will be straight - the Mount will be bent..

Measure the heck out of your findings. Post Them

Sweet Dreams..
If you need a Straight Vortech mount. First complain to the Vortech Company, Then put a request on the board for a fellow that can resolve the problem. Saw this 15 Months ago.. It just get worse with age..
Tighten the belt - bend the plate. Lossen the belt - Gear slips. Repeat
You can see it with the naked Eye - but you need to measure to have "OtherS" believe it.
The correct alignment is the Vortech drive pulley direction needs to be 0 (Zero) Degrees off the crank centerline. It is not now.

Please have fun...

Nothing wrong with the design, just the wrong material in the mounting plate.
Anyone could have made this mistake.

Cheers Amy -

Thanks for the replies guys.

Anyone else check for me? I know there are more Vortechs out there. It'll take you 5 seconds to check for me. Much appreciated.

Vortech cant see the videos b/c their server is down and wont be fixed until Monday. So...until then, please let me know if anyone else's gears move like that. THANKS

What sucks is that piece that is kinda loose (the cog gear) is on the back of the blower which I JUST HAD sent back to Vortech where they opened it up and saw nothign wrong. Cost me clost to $400 bucks for the labor/shipping. If this is indeed the problem, I'm gonna be hella pissed. I've been dealing with this rattle crap long enough....on a unit thats only a few months old

g8tor20, sent you a "PM". Better than 16,000 miles and my first problem. While sitting at a stop sign a noise from under the hood sounded like a rod. However, it was intermittent. Got numerous stares. Not noticeable at higher RPM. Got it home and took an "automotive stethoscope" to the Blower, SC Mount, Jack Shaft with Cog Pulley and Cog Belt Tensioner Pulley Bolt, Spacers and Nut.

NO rap from the Mount, Jack Shaft or Blower. Could hear the rap while touching the Tensioner Pulley Spacers, could hardly keep the "stethoscope" to your ears while touching the nut or bolt shaft to the rear of the pulley. Removed the Tensioner Pulley but couldn't notice any play in the bearing. Won't remove the snap lock ring until I talk to Vortech tomorrow AM.

Has anyone else had a similar situation or taken a stethoscope to the bolt, spacers or nut?
