Default i decided to go with a supercharger

https://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-drivetrain/170229-i-would-like-a-mild-engine-build-in-what-direction-do-i-go.html

this is the thread i originally started saying that i was gonna go with some mild mods first but i think that i would save myself money waiting to get the f/i all in one shot.

as of right now i have my mind set on the stillen stage one supercharger it will leave me where i would want to be as far as horsepower and it is said to be reliable. the only thing is that i am not liking is the hood i have to get for their supercharger to fit. are there anymore options. they say it is close to being a "from the factory setup" which is the most appealing. does anyone that has this system have any complaints.

anyways so that is the direction that i have chosen i will post some pics and dyno sheets when i get the project done. any suggestions or comments please let me know. thanks

congrats! i wish you luck with the stillen. it seems to be a relatively safe setup, but doesnt put up the big hp numbers like the others. let us know of your experience.

Before you decide, Ride in one and then ride in another car with a different setup. Also see how much you can upgrade cuz you'll probably want more power.

I know that vielside makes a hood for this setup which is awsome. Search the web for it. It is a vielside supercharger hood or something like that.

i have stage 4 (which is not advertised yet) and it makes lots of power and it is very safe. the hood looks good in reality better than in pics, it gives it a mean agressive look. with a stage 4 i blew a stock 350z by more than 200 feet in the 1/4 mile, he was far behind , so was the new STI impreza.

Vision619 had the stage 4 with meth/water injection and could only get a little more than 300 rwhp. He has since gone TT

I had the Stillen Stage 2 for about a year and recently upgraded to Stage 4. If i'm not mistaken the Stage 4 is SUPPOSED to generate an additional 30-35 HP over Stage 2. As I posted in the thread below, my car actually saw a small decrease in peak HP (from 295 to 289) since I went to Stage 4 . Not sure if it was a fluke or not, as the car feels like it pulls stronger than before. In any event, the Z is going back to the shop next week to test out a few things with the Stage 4 to see if we can get the #'s up.

Good advice here, you will for sure want more power at some point. I can't tell you how many times I've heard "I'll be happy with 300-400rwhp" and they always end up wanting more. The stillen is very limited in terms of high HP, bigger pulleys don't make that much difference with it.

No offense to anyone but stillen SC is pretty weak, vortec and prochargers can make way more hp than stillen units.

The stillen does have a very impressive Torque curve though.

hey for all the stillen owners..... just got mine... (i know congrats!!!) i love it so far.... but when do you start feeling the kick of the sc? mine doesnt really hit until i'm above 3K..... i've beeen reading everyone'w thread about how much low end torque, but is 3K considered low end? i have the stage 3 and had a leak on the 7th injector this morning, and nissan came by and tighten everything...... so it's not leaking anymore, but does yours really kick in about 3K? let me know....
