Just received a call from Jamie at Vortech Technical Support. Probably talked 15 - 20 minutes about this thread and subsequent posts. I faxed Vortech 14 pages.

He agreed that the COG Tensioner/Pulley is being installed by some individuals, to include shops, that are not reading how the sequence of parts are installed on the screw/bolt before installed on the mount with washer and nut.

There is NO Torque Specification on the COG Tensioner Pulley Screw/Bolt/Nut.

Suggested that "Loc Tite Blue" be used on the Nut securing the COG Tensioner Pulley to the Mount.

The COG Belt when tightened, measured at the bottom, should twist a minimum of 1/4" to a maximum of 1/2". It is a COG Belt being driven by COG Pullies. It is not going to slip if adjusted correctly. However too tight or too loose could cause cogs on the belt to be busted off! As I posted previously, my Pulley was bad and I lost 67 cogs on a 75 cog belt. Talk about noise!

Also, while they can't respond to Vortech threads or posts with posts, they DO MONITOR FORUMS! to include my350Z.com and G35.

 

Yeah, DEFINITELY USE LOCTITE. Sorry to yell, but this is really important.

When mine was rattling, I tightened the bolt. but I didn't realize that I also broke loose the loctite. Within a week, the bolt had backed completely off, and the jackshaft cog had eaten through my camshaft position sensor wire. I had to splice the wire and wait for vortech to send me a nut.

Since then, it's been a year, and no problems.

 

There was never a solution to the noise people were experiencing even with the tension pulley correctly installed?
