did you by chance take a second to read a couple threads before posting this?

namely the "Vortech sucks" thread that was at the top of this list when you started this thread?

I've been searching for a little while now, but it's hard to find directly related posts.

Is the problem posted in the "vortech sucks" thread a common one?? I cant seem to find a good answer.

Thanks,
Nikita

man - probably not a good day to be asking about Vortech problems! There are some that are happy and some that are currently not very happy (hope that was diplomatic enough for everyone!). SC are going to make noise, some more than others. All up to what you are comfortable with.
Without giving an opinion on the SC itself, i would strongly suggest you take the car to someone who knows SC's etc to have it checked out THOROUGHLY before you sign on the dotted line.
Probably not very helpful..but good luch and welcome

If you search any of thr kits , be it a SCer or a turbo kit . You will find that people have problems with every kit . Its the nature os modding cars . I can tell you about some of the problems you MIGHT run across with the Vortech . And I repeat.....MIGHT.... Although its not a problem , you may have to tighten the serp belt every few weeks . The owner may have already changed to the thicker Gates belt that doesnt stretch as easy . The blower may make a noise when at idle that sounds like a bad bearing . Gg8tor20's noise is much louder than others . Some complain about the whistle the bypass BOV makes at cruise and idle [ some like it ] Im sure there are other problems Im for getting about . I just got up from sleeping and not to awake .

The turbo kits will have problems also ...smoking , boost creep , boost fall off , and others Ive read about and cant remember about also .

You are changing the way the car was designed to run when you mod it . There will be provlems to over come

No...the vortech ran great when it ran well. It developed a problem and I had a hell of a time getting it resolved. If it runs like its supposed to...it works great and is a blast to drive. Mine was too loud and embarrasing to drive with. All S/C has a slight rattle at idle...but mine was crazy loud and some part was defective. Like others have said..check it out firsthand.

I have had the belt slippage issue once in about 7 months that I have had the Vortech SC. I like the kit in general. I just wish I had more torque, but thats just the nature of a SC.

I have a slight rattle as has been mentioned, but I can live with the added noise for the added HP! At times, the bypass valve is annoying, but I can also live with it for the added power.

One problem that is mentioned every so often is about the filter. On the Z, it is extremely hard to remove to clean. As a matter of fact, I have not been able to get mine out in almost 10k miles. There are some members working on filter relocation kits at this time which will give easier access to change the filter.

In conclusion, any time you have a motor do more than it was designed to do, there will be problems. I have had minor issues that have all been worked out and/or are being worked out. The Vortech is one of the safest forms of F/I and it provides great power gains. I say go for it!!

Cant argue with 367RWHP and about 305RWTQ out of an automatic!!!

I had my Vortech done in October, I've got 18k mi on my Z as well.

No probs whatsoever. Z Car Garage did mine, and they've really learned how to do the Vortech install right. I've had zero problems with mine.

We have installed several vortech kits here at the shop, and haven't had any problems, there kit is well put together and makes very good power. Also they have very good customer service so if there ever is a problem they always get it fixed. I would recommend getting 1 stage colder plugs with the kit, and also suggest a clutch if you still have the stock clutch, the stock clutch may or may not hold. If you have any question feel free to PM me, but yes it is a great kit and I highly recommend it.
