Default Worst case scenario?

I just got back from North Carolina where i had Sharif and CP race install some goodies on my car and have it tuned by Sharif. Great bunch of guys up there really. Shop was really impressive as far as items in stock and size. They let me bum around the shop all day Sat (4 hours past their close time) and use their internet/couch. Sharif worked on my car all day fixing small problems here and there. It seems the installer of my TN kit used the wrong screws to replace my fuel pump assembly putting holes through the top of the tank, so i have a nice ocean of fuel leaking out of the top of my tank when it gets full as opposed to stopping the gas pump (thats always nice to find when your 650 miles from home at 8:30 pm). The fuel float had some sort of malfunction when installing the fuel return, but i dont think this is a huge deal, it just scared the **** out of me when i see my car wont fill past 1/2 tank, and it goes from just under half a tank to fuel light on in about 120 miles. Since i had the TN kit installed (not saying this is the TN only issue) my fuel consumption computer shows me getting up to 40 mpg, and sometimes at half tank having 400 miles left in the tank, so im flying blind at this point. So about every 150-200 miles i got to create a small ocean of fuel in some poor gas stations parking lot(ok not an ocean, but i thought it was funny)...hey i'm just doing my part for the enviroment. Anyway on to the good part. Sharif was trying to figure out why im a ****ing jynx with any car/bike and why i am the least common deninator in any sitation. He checked my compression, and although not blown, was on the very low end of the scale at 145. He was able to safely tune my car to 362 hp (just a tad under my goal ) I was really hoping to get 400 hp out of the car, but it wasn't a possibility due to my car wanting to knock. It seems my only option for more power at this point is to spend more $$ on this car with an engine build, which i can't help but feel will return the same type of disapointment toward any goal i may have at that point (ie i can't see building an engine, and not shooting for 500-550 hp at the wheels instead of 400). So im in a bit of a spot. I really didn't want to build the engine on this car, as i dont want to put 20k into a car i paid 23k for. Anyway, i really can't say enough about Sharif's hospitality, and willingness to dick around with my car. He tuned on it for about 7 hours, and then proceeded to show me his new engine that im sure will be just nasty from the looks of it (salt/wound? kidding kidding). The car does make more power no doubt, but sometimes i just want to look at paper and smile.

Sounds like your installer didn't do a very god job. That leak in fuel pump could have had you running low fuel pressure. I'm sure Sharif fixed this but that could have damaged your motor prior to that.

Any fix on your float? I'm having the same problem in my G. I fill every 200 miles just to be on the safe side. Also, on the Nav same thing. I was told on this that it's because of the change in injectors. Basically your nav thinks x amount of fuel is going through them, but in reality it's y (a lot more).

I just got in last night at 4:30. I am going to go to the shop tomorow and see about the gas tank first. Sharif said the float should be a simple thing, so no sweat there.

I really would prefer more power form the car, but for now Sharif assured me this was a very very safe set up, so the piece of mind is kinda nice.

I'm not sure, we would have to ask Sharif. I think he may have only checked one cylinder.

Yes if your fuel pressure was low then you would run leaner in the top end.

Most likely the installer bent the float. You need to take out the bucket and bend the float into the correct position. Don't get the o-ring gasket around the bucket wet with fuel or you will need a new one or the car will smell like gas. These o-rings cost $22 for a pair at Nissan and they only come in pairs.

Funny that Nissan charges more than Infiniti . Local Nissan dealer wanted $22...Infiniti wanted $12 and I could buy one at a time . Infiniti was cheaper on plenum gaskets also

Mossy also sells those for about $10 and you can buy one at a time.

I had the fuel leak problem before too. I was filling my tank then suddenly fuel came out from under my car like crazy. Found out that the screws were broken/not tightly down so that cause the problem. Got that fixed then the car started to smell like a gas chamber It was caused by the O-ring exposed to fuel and expanded and didn't fit causing fuel leak. There is a trick to the O-ring when it expdands, put it in the freezer for a few minutes then it will shrinks back to its original size. Learned it from someone ont he forum

Wow sorry to hear of your issues. Even with added fuel and more timing being pulled your car would want to detonate? Maybe a bad tank of gas? Ill try to hit you up later on IM I want to run some things by you...
