Default Gauges for Forced Induction and what they mean

I thought it would be a good idea to start a list of gauges that can/should be used if you are going forced induction and what the gauge actually means.

This should help people decide which gauges to use and actually know what they are looking at and what they should be watching for.

I will start by copying a response from a different thread.

EGT, Exhaust Gas Temperature: egt sensor would go on ur exhaust manifold/header, and by watching the temp of the exhaust, u could keep tabs on whats really going on. if the temp spikes radically, u know ur probably going lean and could be running into so serious detonation soon. people should really consider using these more on their F/I cars!

Thank you Gurp, i have a question about the A/F Ratio Gauge, please FI members give us some explanation.

i planed to get the Turbonetics ST Kit with UTec but as you guys know who ever list Utec on his site he list Tuner Pro Bosch/VW, because it can be linked with UTec and give you great results, my question is, ok i got this Tuner Pro, where the hell should i connect the AF Gauge ??? do i need to purchase the AEM UEGO also ?

P.S. i`m planning to Use AutoMeter Nexus Series Gauges, does AutoMeter have Nexus AF Ratio Gauge yet and does it work with my UTec / Tuner Pro ?

No other WB besides the UTEC Wb works for datalogging. If you buy it, it plugs into the side of the UTEC, has a nice display but is very large/bulky unit. Im trying to decide if I want to mount it-seeing as how I already have a Innovate Wb in the car....

The Autometer Nexus A/F gauge will be wideband and will datalog through Autometers software (according to their website and a few e-mail correspondences).

It's supposed to be available at the end of this month. I've got one preordered through Summit.

so the UTEC feature "set the desired target A/F ratio" will not work right ?

if so then i totally agree with you Alberto, i know Innovate looks better than AEM but is it compatible with UTEC dunno which member said it aint compatible with UTEC.

Here are some a couple of the Auto Meter Nexus gauges in the A pillar beneath the AEM wideband. I'll be replacing the AEM as soon as my Nexus AFR gauge comes in.
