Default Water Temp Gauge

Where is the bestplace to tap for a mechanical water temp gauge? The probe seems rather large and I am wondering if one of the coolant hoses is the best place to tap into?

Most manufacturers & racers install the temp gauge thermocouple JUST below the thermostat. But don't ask me where an easy place around that area is on our VQ's. If you find an answer, I'd be very thankful, as the OEM gauge is way over dampened.

Does it need to go near the thermostat? I thought it could go on any coolant hose. I was thinking of the coolant hose on top of the engine that goes to the throttle body. Is this a bad placeto put it?

I sure wouldn't tap into the hose itself.

No, I was thinking of cutting the hose and using a "T" fitting.

I have an electrical gauge installed on the A pillar that is fed by a temp probe that is installed in the engine outlet to radiator inlet hose..You want to measure the temp coming out of the engine if you want to use it as an engine health/status measurement...Had to use a special mount/fitting made by Greddy I believe to mount the probe into the line...

Do you have pics? I have a mechanical gauge and the probe nut is 1/2". Where on the motor is the outlet hose?

I would first look at your radiator before cutting the hose. The temperature difference between the radiator and the thermastat should be negliable. Not sure if a tapped hole already exists. If it doesn't than look at the hose option.
