Default Logging stock knock sensor ?

Ive tapped into the stock knock sensor with the Zietronix user input . It logs the voltage , and it is at 2.53 volts under normal conditions . At 6000rpm to 6500rpm's the voltage starts to get a little wavy and goes up and down from 2.29 to 2.63 volts . Would this be just engine noise , or actaul knock ?

On one of the logs , I did get some spikes to 3.6 volts and I took them as actual knock and retarded timing by [1] degree and I havent gotten any big spikes like that again . Just the slight up or down in volts .

ya i have been thinking of doing this too. nice work. maybe you found the voltage that the ecu designates for knock. now to find out what that voltage translates to frequencies.

Zivman was one that told me you could do it this way . He said that the slight up and down in volts like I discribed ....isnt knock . But i was just trying to get other opinions on it

I have the exact same setup (Zeitronix connected to knock ECU wire). I also get around 2.53-2.56v, but it stays around those numbers all the time, even at WOT. I can send you some logs if you want...

Later,

OK, I looked at my logs again. It varies between 2.59 and 2.67, but it stays at 2.61 most of the time.

I think John from J&S would probably know most of the answers to your knock sensor questions.

I PMed him and he seems to think any increase in volts is knock . He said it happens so fast that most loggers will not pick up the whole knock event . Some thing to that effect

the logs were done at wot? cause at low throttle the ecu advances the timing to the point of knock (about 40 degrees) and that is problably why you get those spikes.

Yes , they were done at WOT . I get no change in volts at any throttle position , only at WOT and between 6000 and 6500rpm
