Default Coolant smell

Ive put about 150 miles on my APS TT kit. I just installed my exhaust and took the car for a spin. Ive always had a bit of a coolant smell but today it was very bad! The car isnt loosing any coolant and there are no leaks on the ground. The overflow is empty and has been from day one. Anyone have any ideas?

I am sure during the isntall that some coolant was spilled on some exhaust piping or the turbos themselves and I am pretty sure that is what you are smelling. If you can't find a leak, I wouldn't be to worried.

that's what I was thinking. when i had my PE radiator installed the drain plug some how came loose and was leaking coolant through the drain, although the leak was so small it wasn't noticable. I smelled coolant really bad.

the aps turbos are water cooled, possibly a leak in the coolant lines to or from the turbos?...

Thats kind of what I was thinking. Maybe a leak at the turbo. I looked and didnt see anything but it might be so light of a leak I just cant see it.

Probably a leak as mentioned, pressurize the system and you will find the leak.

My guess is the Samco hoses...ever since I installed mine I have had a coolant smell outside the car when it is turned off and still hot.

There is no leak, been pressure checked several times...just smells for 2 years now.

+1 for Samco's not smelling like anything unusual.

In regards to the coolant smell, if you have no leak, then its likely some leftover coolant that spilled and splashed around during the install of the APS kit.
