anyone gone RB26dett?
Hey guys new to the forum( great place by the way) i've got a G with a f***ed up motor thanks to a procharger and a bad tune.so i am thinking of going RB26 and I was just wondering if anyone out there knows if this conversion has been done in a G, I've seen it done in the Z but not heard of any in the G's thanks

I don't see what the big deal is.......I have more than that in my motor and I can't go past 10psi without headlift.

well...if he were to just build a motor, the fix for that is using 1/2" head studs....and then he's lookin at a lil over 10k for a fully built motor than can take 800whp......and he can still use the procharger! haha.
fact is, power ain't cheap. It'd cost a whole lot more in the long run to swap a motor over and then make it powerful than to just build one.

rb swap in a 240sx are pretty simple and a very big option for those who are considering an SR in their 240sx's. They dont even cost that much to swap in a 240, so i dont honestly see why it would cost that much in the Z. same difference really. take out the Z harness, use the entire RB harness.
The RB26 might be a little harder, but i dont see the problem with an RB25!

drive-by wire and the vehicle electronics make it harder
much harder than a 240sx, which has simpler electronics
think gauges, ecu, sensors.. and everything talking to each other in the same language.

Personally to me a 2jz and a rb26 r pretty much identical engines only one is made by Toyota and the other made Nissan and probably the displacement.
O and about all the wiring with a standalone things are easily resolved or made way easier. The only thing you do is leave the Z ecu control the regular electronics and the standalone do it magic

ya a standalone would make things a lot easier wouldnt it.
I thought a 2jz could put down a few hundred more horsepower stock block then an RB.
I guess your right too Oleg, that an RB is so different that you could pretty much swap in any other motor for that much custom work. I just thought that McKinney motorsports would have the mounts and driveshaft already like they do with the 240sx.

How about a VG30DETT from a Z32? Plenty of aftermarket support here locally(in the states I mean), lots in junkyards Im sure too. If youre set on swapping an engine that is. I would just build the VQ

I personally would not swap our motor out for another. Yes all this motor we have mentioned have proven themselves already, we just have to give it a year or two to see what our motors will really do.
