Great article!!! The write up in Modified on Mike B's car was hot too. I got the chance to ride in Ed's car Sat. at Cal Speedway. WOW!!! The car drove wonderfully, great power, rock solid temp after multiple hot laps, and the brakes... ...forget about it, not an ounce of fade. Thanks for the ride Ed, I was grinning for hours.

Thanks, and welcome to the forums! Ed's car is solid as a rock in every way. If we ever cross paths at a track event I will take you around in my car so you can see the other side of the spectrum. Mine is loud, twitchy, bumpy, and I am not the smoothest driver .

When they hang around any of the VRT guys, all they hear about is tracking these cars and it gets them interested. At the very least they should be very aware of what the new additions to their car are capable of. You can't change the way people drive, what they want, or the stupid things they may do. The best thing you can do for them is make them aware.
You are both Wise Men. Can't argue, both of your wonderful cars are Flossing in Sports Compact and Modified.

I do believe we can help encourage all of the Z and G community to get more active at the tracks. It is amazing to see how many motoring and racing enthusiast there are at this past weekends POC CalSpeedway(Porsche Owners Club). Amazing. Our cars are every bit capable of competition with only a few modifications like suspension and tires.

Believe MB and Ed you need to get back on the track Plan. Even if it isn't at SEMA, lets get Z and G owners to the track. They will learn as they go...nationwide like the POC! Maybe I am crazy yet these POC folks are rolling deep with huge money, shops, and sponsors showing up. We have the strengths of numbers to make this happen, just will take time.

Yes, you are right Mike B. Probably just the old fogie in me getting concerned with the image of one of my own sons behind the wheel of this thing (btw, it is never going to happen!). There is no special license or test to buy a Ferrari, and two more guys just killed themselves this week in one of those.

Mr. A - The best way to get people on the track in their cars is to lead by example. That will get them interested and then you can talk to them and expel most of the misconceptions that usually scare people away from doing such events. I convinced my dad to do one and I have even told my mom that she needs to do a track day because it really does make you a better and more aware driver on the streets. I remember what I was like before I started track days and it scares the crap out of me.

Eagle1 - You should let your sons behind the wheel. Take them to a track day and teach them how to be better drivers. Track days build better drivers and as you become a better driver, then you start to learn how to be a more competitive driver. You better believe that when I have kids, they are going to their first track day on their 18th birthday weather they like it or not. I would be more nervous about my sons driving the streets without any track experience. You might not want them to start out in your beast of a car, but the Bimmer would do just fine .

I agree Mike, there is no doubt that I came into this wide eyed and now I am loving it. I was thinking that there would be a few track days in my future but now I am looking at schedules and thinking when can I make another one. There is no doubt that these cars are rocket ships and people need to be careful. However, I think to limit them is tough. You do what you can and hope that people are responsible.

You are right MB. I used to speed all of the time and want to race on the freeway. Today, I don't. When I see a car, even an exotic, on the streets or freeway going fast, I simply smile and picture me passing him at CalSpeedway or ButtonWillow, or Spring Mountain.

Kinda funny. Tracking has made me the driver I am...PERIOD! Now, whether I am in D. Banegas' NA G, a GoKart, or my crazy high horsepower G, I am fast.. Now after years of tracking, I know where to brake and where to accelerate...And of course the fastest and safest line to drive.

Its amazing how much you learn on the track that you will apply to the streets. You will drive completely differently. You even take freeway on-ramps differently lol. I used to drive with one had or even with my knee a lot before tracking, now if I am over 70mph, I have both hands on the wheel out of instinct. You get to the point where you have lost control and spun, you have had close calls, and you know where the breaking points of your car and yourself are. Thankfully, when tracking, you learn all of those things in a safe and controlled environment with other experienced drivers that know how to react and avoid you when you do lose control. I find myself analyzing skidmarks on the roads and freeways and figuring out scenarios on how and why they happened and what the driver could have done to avoid or correct that.

Just this last week I was on a road trip with my girlfriend going up PCH through the Big Sur National Park. This stretch of road is very tight, narrow, curvy, and really fun if you know what you are doing behind the wheel. Well I saw a VW Golf lock up his front wheels and slam into the guard rail right in front of me. He was going the opposite way and it happened literally right in front of me. Now, not even realizing it, I had not even flinched or tensed up at all. As soon as I saw his wheel lock up, I knew what was going to happen and how I was going to avoid it, all subconciously. Most drivers in my situation would have gotten spooked and possibly wrecked themselves as there is a big rock wall less than a foot from the edge of the lane. I also immediately knew why he hit the guardrail and what he did wrong to make that happen. I accredit all of this to track days.

Like Ed told me at the Cal Speedway event. My driving has come so far in two months. There is no doubt that the track makes you better and faster. My wife would never go on the track with me, but at Cal Speedway she did and when I asked her if I was going too fast she told me just don't push it. The funny thing is that I wasn't and she thought the car was near its limit. It was great to know exactly what the car was doing and how to react to things.

Anthony is a good candidate for these cars. He was riding shotgun when we went above the Ferrari and the Evo in the ROVAL. No arm flailing or screaming for him, no sir. Just a big smile as we came high off the bank and swooshed down the back straight at 140+mph, then hauled it down to 45mph for the compound double 90 degree turns. We gobbled up a bunch of cars that session, and were going "easy". I see him as an "evangelist" owner driver down at Sebring!!

Hey VRT - do you have some footage of the White Robispec Evo that was at the track with you guys? Word has it you were 15 seconds off of their times with a pretty much stock EVO and a full Robispec suspension...

That Robispec EVO is f**king fast! If it is stock with just suspension then that guy is one incredible driver. From the outside though, it definately looks serious more serious than just coilovers and race tires.

This one right?

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT...Which track? AND...We have footage of my Roadster Z passing the Robispec Evo at Willow below. It is on our videos...

And there is no way that car is a stock Evo cause it pulled my Z on the straight and my Z was set at 10 PSI, 425 WHP, with the BB530 but couldn't escape at the corners. Scott drove that day and the fottage is pretty clear. A Picture is worth a thousand words, video is worth a million ... Your information is a little distorted Philthy...

Once again...

Which Track?
What Day?
What was the Color of the EVO? If it was this one, it wasn't stock and it got passed!
Which VRT Car?
Where are you getting your information?

NOTE: My Street Driven G doesn't run 15 seconds slower than any streetcar on any track I have run into on any track with Speedventures or Opentrack! If it is Full-Race...No Problem...But if it is a car we have footage of, you are getting wrong info unless it is a VRT car I am not aware.

Here is the Robospec Pass...Form My Z Roadster at Big Willow...Or if you don't beleive these, watch this video and show me how he is running 15 seconds faster than my VRT Z when we are passing him!

I don't recall seeing the Robispec car at CalSpeedway last weekend. There was a white Evo and a red one, and we were blowing by them routinely. But as has often been said, that is as much or more a matter of drivers than the cars. The Evos and Sti cars are, in general, fantastic little track beasts with terrific power to weight ratios and outstanding acceleration due to the AWD feature. I love those cars. In the hands of a really good driver, they probably provide one of the best performance values for the money of almost anything out there.

Congrats! Your video shows nothing - give us a complete lap.

LOL – Nils (car owner) was probably heading into the pits or on his cool down lap, that's the only time you past him. - The White Robispec EVO (Nils car) has a Buschur 20G/stock bottom end, on the factory computer with a re-flash pretty much a 350whp car on a good day. He's running a complete Robispec suspension and he said you guys weren’t even running with the lead pack…? Spring Mountain was the track that he remembers seeing you and basically you guys now have an open invitation from Robispec and Nils to race anytime… See what posting crap on the internet will get you into?

Again, Robert Fuller (Robispec) wasn't driving - he's now driving the Buschur car, and setting lap records everywhere...

The fastest car of the day out at Cal Speedway was a new C6 Corvette Z06 with a Penske suspension and some other mods. IN the hands of Terry, an absolutely superb driver and very classy gentleman, by the way. The second fastest was Mike in his 700 BB TT, and limited suspension mods. But since Mike's car ran all day both days, and the Vette caught fire Sunday morning during the first session, I think Mike "wins". Because you can't win if you can't run. Mike, did you keep the timing sheets for the day which were posted? My recollection is that apart from Terry's blast run before we escorted him off the track and waving for the fire truck, you were the fastest in our advanced group.
