actually, the weld is contaminated with slag and zinc. the black and the hole on the side show that, that weld would never pass certification. the bolt and water jetted (or stamped end) end need to have the slag ground off and start with a clean surface. then the welds would be perfect, lol. ok, i but out now

About the increased vibration.. How bad will it be?

or you could do what i did, take a mallet to the firewall and beat it in a few mms.

The black is the coating from the Grade 8 bolt due to heat put between the two metals, as well as the pit on the left side is lifting off of the gas from the TIG welder. What certification are you talking about that it would not pass?

Slag ground off from what?

I would love to see the welds of the motor mounts you have built as well as other products you have made.

TIA.

This is great, too bad you cant put any patents on your ideas scott. oh well thats life i guess. Ill stick with my $110 SVR and keep the 185 for the ladies at the strip club

Good luck to both of you!

Like I said before, I am not saying anything bad or degrading of SVR's product. I have never seen it. Just would like clarification on the points he has made on our mounts.

Quick questions: If the nut on the top of the bolt comes loose, and the bolt falls out of the bottom of the mount, what is holding the motor in place?

does the nut go on the top or bottom on the SVR's?

I didn't install mine so I don't actually know

I'm not worried though

Well you place the nut on the bottom, so if the nut were to "magically fall out" the bolt would still be there in place to hold the motor and i doubt it will go anywhere or that the nut would fall out.

Unfortunatly patents only apply to a copy of a similar product. As you can see our motor mounts are made from superior materials and the fit and finish is better as well. Our motor mounts use a stud configuration on both sides which as we have all learned from using head studs on upgaded motors provides superior clamping force. Also this very same design has already been proven on many high HP Toyota Supras. We run the same designed mounts in our 1200hp Supra for the past 7 years!!! We are simply bringing this design over to the 350z market. I understand that there may be other products out there that are cheaper and as we all know you get what you pay for.

Could you at least offer a lower introductory price, or offer a group buy or something? I'm looking to install some mounts since my motor is out at this time, and figure this is the perfect time to do so. But I won't pay $295 for motor mounts, sorry

Also, are you keeping these in stock, ready to ship? Or making them to order?

I hope these mounts are almost 3 times the quality to cost almost 3 times the cost of the SVR's.

I've never seen motor mounts cost so much - maybe if they were made of solid carbon fiber with titanium reinforcement beams or something like that would $295 be a justified price for them

http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...105+301035+115

all the solid motor mounts for other cars on summit racing's site are $25-72

We do stock these mounts. Currently have four sets in stock. More coming next week.

You are comparing short run sets (VQ) to companies like Moroso that mass produce a part for domestic cars. Summit also sells a set of 8 connecting rods for $250 whereas the most popular rod for the Z (Pauter) sells for well over $1,000 for a set of 6.

Any chance that IP or SVR can make custom motor mounts that raise the motor? I'm installing the APS TT on my 06 and I need to raise the LHS of the motor for clearance. I plan on using washers but custom mounts would be so much nicer.

hey just curious, would solid motor mounts possibly have any effect on the balance of the engine? If you don't have the engine moving all over the place, would the crankshaft and internals not have as much forces excerted on them? - like if you had a tin can full of rocks and you shake the can vs not shaking it
