Default Who is still considering going FI?

Basically all the kits are out (with the exception of JWT officially). Who is still thinking of going FI and if you are, why have you not done it already?

This is my daily driver...

I drive a '04 "G" w/ 60K miles on it.

I think I have decided on the Vortech SC for reliability and for bang for buck. I do not think I will ever want to go over 400HP in a daily driver so the SC is the way to go for me.

Not any more! Or at least not on the Z...
I was literally on the fence a couple of days ago, but then this thread popped up:
https://my350z.com/forum/forced-induction/194430-our-theory-on-stock-rod-failure.html
As I understood, no stock VQ is safe from failure under any boost. The chances are in my favor, but a possibility of failure exists.
I don't want to feel like Damocles sitting under a pointed sword hagning by a strand of hair every time I get behind the wheel. (I am an overly cautious type)

I'm not thinking about going FI, I am going FI. I'm in the process of installing my APS TT on my 06 GT (only 400 miles on it). I've got the turbos bolted up to the manifolds so the hard part is finished.

I am seriously considering it. I am trying to decide between a vortech and a jwt tt setup. I was originally leaning towards the vortech since its a daily driven car, but the low rpm torque of a tt is just so appealing!

1) daily driver
2) WAY TOO many other hobbies to spend $$$ on
3) too many people selling their used after market parts for me to save up enough for a FI kit
4) scared to see my motor blow and not have enough fund to forge the internals and see my car in the shop for at least a month

Its just a matter of time before i go FI though. I will run out of "small" mods to do soon and all i can do is save up for FI unless i somehow get a good raise or a better job that will make me want to get my porsche boxster S or Cayman S.

as for what kit i will get, it will most likely be a SC from vortec. My goal is 450 to the wheels and its also carb cert unless some magical way a turbo kit will be cali legal. Plus i already have most of the bolt-ons so its only natural to go SC cuz i dont want to take off all my mods and re-sell them to loose money.

I have several reasons for myself. First and foremost I think FI should be the final modification done to a vehicle. The drivetrain, suspension, brakes and wheels should be upgraded first to appropriately handle the power and maintain balance. I don't think FI is a decision that should be rushed into. When I see people throwing big HP kits on a car with no differential and a stock suspension, I fear how the car will react when they run out of skill.

I still need to finish my drivetrain and other mods first. Before increasing the power generated via combustion, I want to focus on making it the most efficiently to the wheels so I can better determine how much additional power I need to reach my goals.

Need more time at the track. Increase my skills as a driver.

After finishing all my other mods, I then need to wrangle up another 15-25k in cash depending on how intensive I decide to go.

LOL. You ain't kidding. The RHS turbo was a major PITA. Nothing a hammer couldn't fix though.

every time I get money together I do something else with it. truth be told its hard to rationalize spending that kind of cash on a car when I need to buy a house and look to the future. being responsible sucks. I had the cash but now I'm getting married more money going elsewhere.

All decided on the JWT TT kit, but still saving the money to buy it, install it and fix it if the engine goes boom! I really think the government should subsidize twin turbo kits for everyone who drives a sports car above 5000'.

1) CARB# - Cali Daily Driver
2) Total Cost + Maintenance - F/I Kit, Installation, Tuning, Built Motor (Would like to do it right the first time around.)
3) Reliability - Would like to wait out to see how certain kits hold out on the long run. Find out why certain kits fail & why some don't. Possible revisions (first year bugs).

Currently interested in the JWT TT, APS TT, APS ST, or TN ST.
Goal: Reliable 450-500whp Daily Driver

have you looked into a sc? 400-450 can be easily attainable with sc.

1. I have 70k miles on the car.
2. The car will need to make several cross country trips
3. The mysteries of the VQ have not been totally sorted out. (IE people with built motors are still blowing something up)

Definitely still considering. The Z is the perfect car to make faster and will still look nice sitting in the garage 10 years from now.

1. Still saving. Very Expensive. Hoping that prices will come down due to competition in next year or 2. 10-15K is big dollars.
2. Still OWE on the car.
3. Wait till warranty is up.
4. need a better daily driver first(my 95 corolla is on it's last leg)
