Castrol makes a 5w-50 full synthetic.

Motorcraft and Mobil 1 both make it as well. I'm sure there are others.

Mobile 1 makes a 15w 50. I may try that or a 10w 40, Redline. I think Shariff was running 15w 50 Mobile 1, maybe he will chime in.

It's not about overheating the oil it's about having the most protection and a 20w-50 at full temp will outprotect a 5w-30 any day of the week. Actually a dyno(conventional) oil at 20w-50 will outdue most syth 5w-30's in long term radioactive wear tests. One of the guys that I ride with(motorcycles) that is all he does for diesel companies.
Im not going to argue.

thicker oil flows a higher pressure, and thinner oil flows a higher volumn. Choose an oil that meets the engineers requirements at various operating ranges, and u have the correct oil for ur application.

Coldstart to me is an important cycle. I coldstart my engine 3-4 times a day. For race only conditions i would defaintly look into different weights, but temps can be managed much more reliably though an oil cooler, while retaining engineers original flow and pressure requirements.

Oh, and this is IMO
