I've done cages in 3 cars and the cheapest one was $1850

I understand that labor is on top of that but 30 hours?????? come on
I can take the interior out in about 2 hours the rest should be no more than 4 hours
$200 roll bar 6 hours labor at $60 = $560
not $2000 plus parts....
Tomcat - Here's some pics of my custom 5 point:

My bar was done by Gary Castillo of Design Craft Fabrication in Lake Forest, CA. It was $800 but that was a hook-up price. Probably around $1000-1200. He did an amazing job, everything lines up and sturdy as hell.

I think the issue lies in the fact that no one makes an off the shelf roll bar setup for the Z. This makes it tough to estimate the costs of one since you can basically design it however you want to. Coming from the Supra world, a cage for $1800 installed is about the going rate since the Supra is in the same boat the Z is due to the fact that no one makes a kit for it.

Bottomline is that connecting 5 points to the chasis should not take as much time as intalling a twin turbo kit...

The weird thing is that there are quite a few companies do make roll bars for the Z llike Kirk and Cusco but none of them make NHRA legal ones, I'm not quite sure why not it's really not much different
I know its not NHRA legal, but I love my Kirk Racing bar. Hell, they make the cages for most of the nitro cars, so even though its not certified, I have completel faith in it. Also the price is nice too. It did take me and my roommate a full day to get it in, but it stiffened the car up so much its nuts! I can't rave enough about it.
Maybe just change your sport to road racing and you can buy an off-the-self roll cage from Kirk Racing.
Seriously, do you have the NHRA rules on roll bars? I bet that the Kirk roll bar with a slight modification would work?

Yes I have the requirements, I need to scan those in one of these days, I think the only difference is the needed bar on the drivers side. That should be possible to add.
Once I have the engine build done I need a cage anyway so maybe the kirk cage will do the trick, but they do not have a picture so I can't tell
How long did it take to insall the kirk bar?
I have ordered my Kirk bar, but I get it in about 2 weeks - so I haven't installed it. They do have pictures of there roll bar and roll cage for the 350Z:

Now, you can get as much g-force push out of road racing as you want, then you get that nice g-force from braking and cornering to boot as well.
Good Luck.
