Default Please help me! Idle problems with TN kit!

Hey guys.
I just got a turbonetics kit installed in my G w/ 45k miles.
Since it is my daily driver, I took extra safety measures so
I am running on 91 oct program with 93 oct gas.
I also made 342 whp and around ~340wtq on AAM's dyno.
Anyways, it seems like my idle is unstable.
It idles around 800rpms when warmed up.
My afr gauge reads 15-16 when my idle sounds stable...
However, my idle won't die but gets really rough and the
gauge reads 18-20. It will go back and forth but the car won't die.
It reads fine on WOT runs.. it is on the rich side but I'm very happy
with the power. Anyone know what could cause this??

Simple fix, get AAM to raise your idle rpm to 1000 since they can re-flash ECU's.

One of the times I sent off my ECU to Technosquare they lowered my idle to about 800 rpms... And that was rough, infact during shifts the rpms would drop all the way down to where the car would turn off while I was driving.

So I sent it off again to raise the idle to 1000 rpm, no troubles since and that was like a year ago lol.

Use the cipher tool to raise your idle and tune your car. Cheaper and you can reuse it.

Wait? Are you sure the ECU was sent to Turbonetics for a reflash? The Turbonetics reflash sets that idle at 950-1000. Mine idles there and has since the flash.

Same.

Other than the idle issue, it sounds like he may have a leak.

Mine idled at about 900rpm, but I experienced the same exact problem. It would idle fine for like 30 seconds then slooowly start to lean out, and start to sound like it was missing/sputtering. Raising the idle to 1000rpm's helped some, although it still does it. A quick blip of the throttle would get my A/F's decent again and provide smooth idle. I think its simply due to the stock ECU trying to handle the 380cc injectors.

That wouldn't explain why some of us haven't experienced this. Mine idles between 900-1000 rpms and I've never noticed anything rough about it.

Of course the ECU was sent out the turbonetics
The funny thing is that my car does fine on WOT runs..
It is on the rich side but I like keeping it safe.
It is weird that I'm the only one seeing this problem.
I also boost to 7.5 psi... making 342 whp.
I'm going to take the car back to AAM next week and
check for any leaks, clean maf, clean throttle body, and raise the idle.
Am I the only person experiencing this except Alberto?

I've noticed my car drop idle a very little bit occasionally. Usually after running hard and the engine is hot and the ECU has still not fully adjusted the short term trims to a reasonable level. But it doesn't stall or anything. And my idle is always constant at 900-1000 and drops MAYBE to 825-850 for a second and then returns to 900-1000. If you turn on the AC does it do the same thing?

My idle stays around 850. with or without the a/c on.
I will check again to make sure though...

Same here with my re-falsh. It idles @ 850rpm. I have asked but never got a real good answer if that idle speed was appropiate after getting the re-flash.

The difference with mine is that it idles fine at that speed but makes me wonder a little if something got left out when they were doing the re-flash on my ECU.

hmmm maybe all the Gs are having the problem... lol
I'm going to check for leaks and raise the idle next week.
Hopefully that will cure the idle problem.

I rode in a Turbonetics G and the idle seemed fine to me. I think we'd need feedback from more people than this to assume it was "all" of them. There are more likely answers that would be related to self-installs and possibly other mods on the car.

Maybe it's time for the infamous throttle body drill.

lol.
Can I get the idle raised at the dealership??
AAM told me I would have to buy the cypher and I don't think I want to buy it just for rasing the idle.

Here is an update though, my idle doesn't go lean anymore but it still idles at 850 rpms. I would still like to raise my idle tho!

DId TN tell you 850 is the correct idle speed for the G? Maybe the Gs idle can't be raised with the software they are using?

Weird, how were they flashing ECU's before then?

Anyway, I would just front the money then and send it off to Technosquare. Fill out the form on their website...

Get them to raise your idle to 1000 RPMS, raise your rev limit to 7100 RPMS (I did, not that I go that high up just when going to the strip I don't have to worry if I push it till the stock redline)... And get them to make sure the other stuff has been adjusted (speed limiter, etc.).

Its still a bit odd to me that if Turbonetics reflashed the ECU its not idling at 900-1000.

Simple fix, you have a vacume leak from the spacer not being installed properly..We just went through this with a customers crapnetix plenum..

Yeah, I suggested this earlier in the thread and I'm surprised it hasn't been suggested by others.

I also agree on the 'crapnetix' thing. I've seen it installed on two seperate FI Z's and both were running rich beyond belief without adjustment. The thing flows like a peice of sheit.
