Default Matching Boost Gauge (modifying DEFI Blue?)

I'm trying to find a 52mm boost gauge that matches the stock gauges (black faces, amber lettering and red needle) preferably for less than $200.

Since the Defi d-series boost gauge is no longer available this is apparently not easy.

One option I've thought of is using a DEFI Blue Racer boost gauge and changing the back lighting LED. Does anyone know if this is possible? Is the numbering on the face in translucent blue backlit with a blue LED (in which case my plan would not work) or is it just transparent with a blue backlight (in which case it might).

Does anyone have any more info on this series of gauges that would help me decided if this is possbile before I order one??

Any other suggestions for matching gauges that are still available would also be appreciated.

Unfortunately they're 60mm gauges (with even larger face), and won't fit my a-pillar pod. I just bought one by mistake

Yes, you can change out the LED on those gauges. I know the guys at Genesis Racing and Development have done it on those new Defi's. Wish I could give you more details on the specifics, but I'm not really sure. Give em a call, ask for Dave.

If you're going to be that guy at least link to a thread that answers the question.

I'm asking about a 52 mm boost gauge for the a-pillar. The thread you pointed to was about modifying a 60mm gauge to fit in the dash.

I've used the search feature heavily on this site and others and googled. I've found nothing without buying expensive gauges plus a control box.

bob

You can use 60 mm gauges in A pillar Gauge pods! Just have to do a little more research and dremel them to fit! Looks very nice actually when finished!

on stock looking gauges whether it be a gauge pod or stock location the point of the matter is there is a man who makes gauge faces to replicate the stock boost gauge and would suit your needs! before you act like a smart *** which is hard to justify, you were asking for help! Search is your help! I did 2 searches and found around 21 pages and countless similar threads! Also I dont know about you, But I dont need two seperate threads to answer the same question...? Why not just bump up the old one!

^ MI 35th, you're right about 60mm guages on the a-pillar (with modification), one 60mm gauge in that location looks good, but more than that...such as three on the a-pillar just looks too big (imho). I suggest going with a more stock setup, you dont have to go with these gauges, but here is another option:

lol! You've probably then run into my threads, I have the saga ones... not bad... but not 100% happy. They make some weird noises, but for the money... they were worth it. Appear to be pretty accurate and havent had any problems... but if they crap out, I'll go with the Defi's new stand alones and replace the LED's.....

Yup, in fact that's how I first came across the SAGA gauges. They look good in the dash, but I think they'd be to much in the A-pillar. Also I have 2 other 52mm gauges in the pillar adding a 60mm with a larger face would look weird.

Ooops. Sorry.

I just looked through the feedback/questions section and the FAQ to see if a thread originator can move a thread and found nothing. Therefore, I'm assuming a moderator has to do that.

If I can do it please point me at the instructions for moving it.
