GReddy TT + longer 3.3FD is almost a requirement. Dyno's are great for bragging rights, but otherwise useless. I'd say do the FD swap and get some fatter tires for the rears. Running 285's was still sketchy at best with my FI setup, and I wasn't pushing the power levels you are... If you can cram 295's under your car, it would be well worth it.

As far as suspension goes, I'd wait. I understand your wanting to change it up due to your 1/4 "squat," but the FD+tires would definitely be tops on my list.

Just my

In any case, glad to hear she's still murdering the streets up in MD

Bert, Ryan: That is exactly what I started looking into the last couple of days... new FD or gears... It does me no good to have buttloads of power if I can't put all of it to use. Still have not decided on anything, but looking at the various possibilities.

Definitely have to catch up at GD's one of these days.

My 3.3 goes in on Friday Bert, we need to hook up and you can take it for a spin if you want before you make the decision.

I had 4.10:1 gears, just under 550RWHP (at 6200 rpm) in a mustang cobra( 10 psi vortech). It was stupid fun but utterly useless until 4th gear. On the street, the car would've been quicker if I had lowered the rear gear to a 3.73, 3.55, or 3.27:1.

But the steep rear gears are way more impressive when you are demoing your car to some hapless soul!!!!

Nowell that would be sweet man. Ive read from people who have it say it feels like the car revs slower up top, and technically it should be as TQ multiplication isnt as much but 500+whp will still be fast. I just really like the 70mph in 2nd, 105mph in 3rd and 130mph in 4th you know...we'll be in touch Nowell, I appreciate the offer man....

S1AMEZE-next round Im doing 265/295 on my car 10mm wider on both front and rear, with a softer compound tire and not one that looks as good (IMO) as the KDW2. Its a great tire but just cant come close to laying it down under 60mph in my car.

edit-as far as gears(sets) go, Im tired of hearing about things that dont come out and IMO are overpriced. Ive heard through the "grapevine" our tranny internals are much stouter than what we give them credit for, with no powershifting I think they would hold up in most cases. I'll be cracking into my busted tranny and looking into other options, but Im in no rush with that for now.

Other part of me says screw it, 70mph in 2nd and 130mph in 4th @ only 7000rpm's would be nice and much closer to Supra's gearing (with the 3.3 FD), but I dont want the lower peak numbers on the dyno. Then again what good is power if you cant put it down...decisions, decisions....I actually have a source for a 3.3 FD who has one now we could swap.

Brent-one of these days we'll catch up down at the Glory Days or something
Thats what I'm saying. I'm thinking about buying some coilovers and swap out the Eibachs install some camber arms and get some more tire to the ground, Might have to lift the car a little and run 305's out back.

I thought different FDs did not effect dyno numbers. At least thats what the guy said when I got mine dynoed.

That would be cool. Wont it have to be on the same dyno though? At Forged?

Awesome setup and vids man.

I've always wondered if you can just launch in 2nd at high power levels instead of getting a lower 1st gear ratio with a custom gearset.

While not the exact same dyno I have a Dynojet I go to locally where I have dyno'd stock, with bolt-ons 3X and with the TN kit. I would go back there and compare the STD numbers to the ones we did down in GA.

Thanks. First gear is fine as long as Im on slicks, obviously that isnt something I can always drive around on. In colder temps my 2nd gear is as bad as first, so no launching in 2nd would result in the same a$$ out wheelspin and a hot clutch.

All things being equal, a lower final drive will generate less trq in all the gears, so the dyno number will be lower. But the car may very well be faster on the street, due to traction and shifting variables.

I put the 3.3 FD in when I had the GreddyTT installed. I know I'm not pushing the kind of power you are, but I can say that with the 3.3 you can actually use 1st and 2nd instead of just burning through them. Dyno numbers aside, this allows you to get the most out of every gear and more usable power. And as you said, it allows you to shift better ratios for the 1/4 definitely.

Alberto, thanks by the way for help on the catch can. I ended up running the lines on the passenger side at least for now...

Classifieds is good, you may also want to post in the Mid-A, any smart auto guy would jump on the chance. Im actually gonna be keeping my 3.5 FD as well, Im on the hunt right now for a Nismo rear diff cover so I can do this swap ASAP. Will keep everybody updated.

mario-glad it all worked out for you. How does your car pull up top in 3rd and 4th? How much power are you pushing?

Right here. There are quite a few people that would rather have your 3.5.
I got mine here

I need to get some numbers. Don't forget I'm still new at this...just a month with the kit. At my low boost setting (stock boost setting for now) the car feels great in all gears. I hope to dyno soon and I'll get you the numbers. It feels real strong up top with alot of usable power. Great pull in 3 and 4 without having to shift too soon or anything like that. With the kind of power you have, you would have a blast with the slightly longer throws. As someone else said here, you really need to find one locally to drive and feel it for yourself, but I think you would like it.
