Default Does the stillen supercharger void warranty?

I am ready to sell my '01 s4, although classier, faster, more versatile and better handling, i am tired of having $1000-1500 be regualr bill from the stealership every couple of months. I have had pretty bad luck with its realiability, so i want a Z. When i had a 300zx the stillen supercharger was still in development for the 350 so i don;t k ow much about it. CAn someone plese fill me in. The z is anawesome car and i am almost 100% sure i want one.

Twin Turbo is the answer. And I think pretty much any FI is gonna void the ol' warranty on the engine at least.

Any F/I will void engine, and drive train warrantee, anything related to that. As far as superchargers I would go vortech, atleast that is what I am looking into.

There are mod-friendly dealerships who will cover it under warranty, IF you buy it from them and have them install it. They are few and far between however.

Is your s4 stock? If so, I wouldn't say it was faster or better handling. May be more versatile since you can drive in the snow if you need to. Classier is a matter of opinion and I would say a Z is a much better looking car than an Audi sedan. That's my opinion.
Supercharger will void engine and drivetrain warranty but only if they can prove that it actually did the damage in question. All other parts of your warranty should be still good. Not being an expert but from what I have read here over the years, the superchargers are generally more reliable but put out lower #s than the Turbos both single and twin.
Like Armitage said find a dealer that has a performance shop associated with it and they will usually be more lax. I doubt highly that any dealer will replace a blown engine under warranty and that is big $$$

Let me mention a pet peeve: modding a 350Z that you do not have. Get the 350Z first.

All i have to say about that is that my boss has a touring edition z and my brother an enthusiats model, and at streets of willow there was not even a compairson , the s was a lot quicker, when teh s4 was stock. When i put in the k04s it was even more insane.I am not saying the z is slow in any way but teh s4 is quiker. When i happened to catch a z in teh street that wanted to **** around, although i do not approve of "street racing", i gave in, and teh z was not far behind. Remember the s4 is AWD and is like 15k more expensive. ANyway i don't want to talk crap on teh internet because it is pretty useless, nor do i want to condone any street racing. If you guys want to drive go to the trak, **** i'll come with you, streets of willow is only 2500 per day, with 10 people that will come out to pretty cheap. Anyway, i was considering the s/c before i discovered its price to power gain ratio. I will buy the z next week end and probably not mod it at all because once you start, you don't stop, you know?

He's just trying to get some info before he makes the purchase and not regret it. And I think any FI will void the engine-related warranty, but I'd get turbo, the sound of a bov is so sexy!

The earlier model S4 twin turbo is a good platform, but I agree the consistency of little things happening and going back to the dealership will add up to the price of owning the car (it's almost a must if you know some type of Audi master technician at the dealer to get around the bills). However, if budget permit it's always nice to keep both (just an option). Z is great for daily driver (which is what I did), handles great, and surprisingly great gas mileage for what it is while keeping your S4 when you want something different one day other than the Z.

If you have a 400hp S4, it's ver obviously you had put some type of handsome investment in modding it up, and we all know when you sell the car you won't be able to recover the funds you invested in it, so try to keep it if you love the car!

From my understanding a dealership could only void your warranty if the part is for "off road use only" or if they can prove the part did the harm to that part that failed. I think its under the "taff law." However even if the part does not void the warranty a dealership still can refuse to work on it. So basically they are not voiding the warranty, they just wont work on it.

You might want to stay away from the Turbo units if you are in Cali., unless you find one C.A.R.B. approved. I know the Vortech is C.A.R.B. approved so it will be hard for the dealership to void anything and on top of that the cops cannot give you a ticket for not being illegal.

^ I'm planning on going FI too and I'm in Cali but I am also really concerned about having a BOV which I really want. Will a cop pull me over if we both happen to be at the redlight and he hears me shift?

Well the Vortech will have a bypass valve that vents into the atmosphere so the sound will be there and its pretty loud. It's part of the system so a cop cannot give you a ticket for it, since it's all part of their C.A.R.B. number and the system works as a kit. It's sorta like a cop giving a ticket to a truck driver for their BOV...it just will not happen...and if they do you can fight it and win.

Yea I think anytime you modify to an afermarket one it is illegal. My friend upgraded his BOV on his EVO and got a ticket for it.

What I'm starting to find out with cops is that most of them will treat you the way you treat them. There are some which will give you hell, but there are some that are respectful. When I got pulled over hey made me pop my hood. He started to point around the engine asking "what is this"..."what is that"..."what are these shiny pipes"...and so on. I told him the story behind everything and he said...nice car...and told me there has been a lot of street racing around here and they are cracking down on it. He then said...drive safe and he let me drive off. No ticket no nothing.
