Weird Noise coming from Vortech Unit
Noticed it this morning. When I start my car, I get this distinct buzzing/rubbing sound coming from near the SC unit. It's quite different than the normal rattle/whirling noise that the Vortech usually makes. Have a appt. to get it checked out on Friday, but I was wondering if you guys could point me in the right direction as to what it is. I am kind of worried. Please help!

take off the cog belt , then start it and see if it makes the same noise . If it doesnt make the same noise , leave the cog belt off till you figure out what it is . It coud be a IC pipe rubbing on the AC pulley , no oil getting to the SC , Could be alot of things . Dont F-ck your car up wating for some one else to find the problem

No, it should make no noise or very minimal when the cog belt is off. If the sound is still there with the cog belt off, its probably a supercharger problem. I could tell it went bad because I replaced my 3 idler pullies and the sound was still there. BeerViper on G35driver had the same problem. When I took my bearings out and I shook them, I could actually hear and feel the ***** moving around inside the bearing.
Btw, the jackshaft bearings are inside the actual shaft between the sc blower pulley(ie. the 3.33, 3.12, etc one) and the cog pulley on the backside that is not connected to the blower.

im sort of lost. Do u have a pix of what u are reffering to? Are u saying the noise wasnt from the cog pulley but the inside of the shaft that connects the cog pulley? If so, what parts will I need? I found the cog pulley from vortech but not sure the size it came with 30 or 32 tooth (http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/...p=49&cat_key=6) but what else will I need?
