So I came to a semi-conclusion last night, and wanted a little validation (so where better to turn than a bunch of strangers on the int4rw3b, right?)
350hp is really enough. No. Seriously, it is. I could give two ****s about drag racing, I haven't been to the strip in YEARS. My car is faster than pretty much all of my friends' cars incl. modded EVOs and STis - and I've owned some VERY fast stuff in the past, so the desire to build something over the top isn't there today.
So is there really any shame / harm done in having a wayyyy overbuilt setup for what I'm doing? I'd rather have this thing run like this for the next 15 years than get 450-500hp and have it sound like crap and only last 20k miles. I mean, I absolutely LOVE how it sounds, how it runs, how totally linear the powerband is, it's obviously overkill, I could have spent 7k on a Rotrex s/c and gotten about the same result, but I'm completley in love with the car as-is. 8psi is nothing to scoff at, even though it's also nothing close to special *shrugs*
Sure, I could slap on 3.5" downpipes and a true-dual 3" and better WG actuators, but why? To have more power than I can put down at corner exits and stuff it into the wall at the Glen? It's already got a tendancy to want to step out under heavy accel and is tough to autoX this way, why add MORE power / less traction?
Disucss

You obviously got your setup "overbuilt" for reliability. So as long as you're enjoying the car, who cares about HP #'s or 1/4 times. You can always up the boost later if you're getting bored, but obviously that's not happening for the time being.
If your happy with your set up, then what more could a car enthusiast want out of their car. I just don't recommend riding in a 500hp Z. You will change your mind, Yes you will.

how streetable will it be when/if I decide to up the power / is it worth it spending more time / money messing with it when (currently) I am plenty happy? I guess my point is, it's plenty fast to get into plenty of trouble and have fun, and I'm not competitively racing, much less for money, so is it that bad to just want to leave well enough alone?
Mann..it really depends on what you want to get out of ur car. But i agree with the previous post about not riding in a 500hp z. Will definitely brew thoughts in ur already curious mind..
If you had a ride in a 500whp Z you would not have started this thread; you would have started tuning at higher boost instead
Obviously boost controllers have settings for "off(stock)", "low" and "high". Just tune it for 500whp+ on high and use it if/when you want...

this post is retarded. discuss what? if you're so happy why are you on here ranting about it and want people to discuss about your rant? sounds like to me you're having some ***** envy but your trying to convince yourself you don't. there are plenty of people who have F/I at modest levels who would like more power but dont need other people's pat on the back saying its ok with low boost.
personaly i believe 350 is enough, i mean 500rwhp + is very dangerous, these Z have bad traction issues, but i mean if you want a car that you can just do 40 punchs in, thats you, i really am debating on selling or keeping my Z because the car cant hold the power. with out it trying to get loose.

That is what he wants to "discuss."
man just get it setuped well to the max u can get out of it on 1 setting of the boost controller (setting A) and then do a streetable setting (B) and when u feel like puffing it just switch settings its that easy... and putting ur foot down once every now and then wont harm any thing in fact it does ur body good... keeps the adrenalien rush wooooosaaaaa
I can attest, the car is a blast at the current power levels. I really dont need to work to cut through a corner fast, or walk it sideways. All it needs is a proper driver behind the wheel. I can also say the car is going to be a handful (in a good way) at higher boost levels. I think you will quite happy with it Dave, besides, you can always turn the boost down.

Don't be upset you wrecked you car just get it fixed, throw some drag radials on there and never worry about traction again. This being said if and only if you already have a DD of course, otherwise 400-450 whp is about all I would go with a DD.
