Default no intercooler

would it be very bad to run a turbo on a car with no intercooler. i'll be running at 4-7 psi on one of my cars, w/o intercooler for about a week or two. i heard people running superchargers at 8spi without them, so i should be safe right?

yes it's bad, no, don't do it. 10.3:1 compression + added heat of a compressor of some sort (whether in boost or not it's still hotter than stock) = bad.

dont boost it if you absolutely have no other options. It's still bad as pointed above. If the option of not driving the car exists, that would be my #1 choice.

running a turbo without an intercooler is like fcking a hooker with no rubber... it will feel better with the 1-2 more psi, but you have a higher risk of damaging something

I've tried it, it sucks, don't do it. Your intake temps will hot get as f*ck. I tried this once with water/meth injection to cool things down and it still get too hot. Bad idea, sorry

Yes, it would be bad. Wait a week or two to drive the car once you get the intercooler installed

The only sc that I would feel safe using without an ic is the Stillen stage 1.

you're bound for a heat damage of the engine.

The heat will be there with or without the IC. It is getting hot air into the the throttle to the internals that is destructive. This will cause knock detonation causing damage to your internals. It may fall apart slowly with 1-6 degrees of knock or a spike of 15 with bad gas and bad timing or leaned out will kill the motor for sure. Also boost pressure is lowered because hot air is less dense than cold air. With an IC you're making your kit twice as efficient and have more potential and run safer.

GM had a faulty design on their L67 and L32 supercharged motors (Grand Prix GTP, Impala SS, Buick GS and others) because it had no IC. Put an aftermarket IC and the car safely got another 50-100hp with more boost.

Hey Bill...it was a 50/50 mix and it did lower the temps about 60 degres if I remember right but at one point the intake temps were getting close to 280 degres..WAY TOO HOT.....

The only way I see any point to that concept is on a turbo Busa where there would be no room for an intercooler ya know

I was just wondering if you tried .I know someone that wanted to try a TT and 100% meth injection , or run pure meth for gas and a TT .

My buddy installed Vortech supercharger and water+meth injection on his 05 Mustang GT with NO intercooler. Result? Not good... He plans to buy an intercooler.
