Yes-gearset are expensive. A lot of time/research goes into designing, developing, then testing them and pulling tranny out inspecting for for flaws etc. Sure is expensive but in the grand scheme of what most guys spend on a TT + Build + supporting mods + labor + tuning, Im really surprised its not done more. This may all change soon

I hear ya. The money I have spent already on my build is nutZ! When all is said and done I should be close to 20K. I know another 4k for the gears is a good move. I just figured at that amount there are other options.

Are the gear sizes set? or are they made to order?

JUST wanted to add, Im not saying its not worth it. Just curious if going with a RACE built tranny for alittle more is a option?

damn that sucks dude, and has me even more scared now because I am planning to build similar power but since I have to have an auto tranny because of my arm I'm not sure an auto is gonna like that power if the 6mt doesn't handle it.

Exclamation identical to my tranny failure!

Alberto...

I went through the same exact thing to the T a few months ago...violent shaking...sounds, then 3rd gear was gone...all of my other gears were perfectly fine though....

Good luck with the GTM gearset...I swapped in a stock tranny back in my car when my first one broke, I'll be having Sam build me a crazy tranny soon enough as well...let us know how it goes!

Ok Sam, you better eat your wheaties and get some sleep, with the stroker feedback and now the need to build some beefy trannies, you better be on your A-game to keep up with this demand!

I have 6000 miles and my 5th gear has a small scratch to it already

I had a clutch problem this year too --- turned out to be the diaphram on the clutch lost a spring which broke a metal guide which completely destoyed my flywheel ---- luckily my gears were fine and all that was needed was a new clutch/fly combo (this was on a B series Civic hatch with lots of hard shifts and launches)

Any chance its not the 3rd gear? Guess we wont know until you drop the tranny --- in my case it wouldnt go into any gear so I had it towed home

Good luck and god speed

Thanks, I am pretty confident its 3rd gear, no others are really acting up. Maybe a bent shift fork? The clutch seems fine now, no issues.

Wow, violent. It's amazing how quickly your car got through second gear though.

That sucks. So how have all these other built motor folks been getting down the track with major power? Just slowly I guess.

If you're not going to pull the tranny right away, you should change the fluid so you can drain out all the chunkage. Its just swirling around and could damage the main shaft or other synchros.

well the Z never has been a particularly fast car in the 1/4 mile. Even with huge power only a handful have ran 10's
