I watched them tow my car from the dealer to AAM twice. Took him an hour to get it on the truck because greddy coilovers had the car on the ground. I can probly get the tow hook in there if i pull out the nut from the jwt ic.

No the tranny is stock I already mentioned that, it is the improved version though and with no powershifting should hold up....

Default Update...

Yesterday did the tranny with the help of Dave from Function Tuned.

First off, this was a major PITA-the removal/access to the wasetgates w/the relocations and downpipes was tough but thats modding for you. Few notes, before the pics. I thought I had version 004 of the tranny-as the one we pulled out is over 2 years old, turns out it was the 008, so pretty "new" revision. My new tranny didnt come with the shifter bracket/assembly, for anybody doing the "upgrade" or swap from any version Z tranny to the 009 version, make sure you get the above mentioned piece! We ran into a little snag (see pics below for clarification) where we swapped the shifter assembly from the old tranny to the new, well the new tranny is about .5" lower in the rear and the 4 bolts from the assembly dont line up. Not a huge deal as there isnt a huge weight/stress on this as it only holds the shifter/shifter cup, so we just put it on with the 2 top bolts as they are a good size and are long, we then had to cut off the alignment pins found on the shifter asssembly that there are no grooves for on the new tranny. We also used loctite, I doubt I'll ever have an issue with this, just wanted to make it known for others. Other than that, went well, just a b!tch of a job at times.

Again I want to thank Dave and Juan of Function Tuned for helping me with this, anybody in MD, VA need any work done dont hesitate to contact Dave@FT.

Pics below...

Below are 2 pics showing the top holes before we cut off the alignment pins, and after we did and how the bottom 2 holes dont line up...

Driving Impressions-tranny has less than 400 miles, so it isnt that smooth, but after roughly 130 miles it seems to get batter every mile, so I expect it to smoothen up more.

Thanks for posting your experience and pics. Seeing the modifications and time required to make the 009 fit is making me rethink just getting new sycros and shift forks instead.
