Hi Mrc,

When I was in Charlotte, Eaglegreen did a before/after test with his 17 inch wheels, and his 19 inch GT-C's, and there was a definate difference in power. You are correct...its not huge, but 10whp/trq difference is notable.

On any given day, I would expect to see some variances between dyno runs. Even if we make 5 passes in quick succession, there will likely be a few whp difference between them. So I never read too much into the numbers on any given day. As I mentioned in my previous post, even a slightly tighter straping can result in less measured power...give it a try someone.

In regards to UTEC vs. FCON....until you've actually tuned a true 32X32 map, with super high resolution and speed, it might be hard to appreciate the benifits of the system....particularly during part throttle, and transitional boost areas. Until we started tuning the FCON, I felt the same way as you. And because the UTEC requires a low engine speed, in order to "save" a change, it makes steady state tuning really really time consuming on the dyno, as we cant make real time changes to the mapping, and observe the measured steady state power and AF on the dyno.

This is all going to change on the UTEC in the software upgrades..There will be Auto A/F feature, advanced resolution, real time mapping changes, windows based software,New GUI, and more..So IMO that would put it right on par with the systems costing 2X's as much...

I called and ask them when it would be out. They told me that they have no date.

hmm, wonder what the load site resolution will be...
if they can fix:

resolution in load site

reading ahead...

datalog not giving accurate fuel/load site location in order to make changes

...they will make the UTEC be the premier $1000 engine management.

hope they come out with a datalog chart, map trace, better resolution, and some of those "for future use" features utilized..be mice if we could hook up a air temp sensor that goes in the intake plenum as well!

Actually, for the money it "is" the best solution in its class..No doubt the F-Con is a far superior unit, but also has a far superior price tag.The UTEC is a great solution for those entry level to mid level boosted applications..Far superior to it's compeditors, Emanage Ultimate and Uni-Chip...

Nobody knows at this point. We just saw the GUI at SEMA, and it looks terrific, but the technical specs havent been released yet.
