Default Variable Vane tech. on a turbo?

I heard about Porsches Variable vane technology in the new 997 I believe thats the car it comes in. It makes full boost at 1950rpms. I'm trying to find out if anyone knows where to buy them other than porche. I was going to try to mount this turbo in my single turbo setup. The turbo sells from porsche for $3471.00 and only offer one type of turbo obviously. The other turbo company that makes these is Borgwarner and airwerks turbos stocks them. But I couldn't find any info from these companies.

Well I asked the sales men at porsche didn't even know what I was talking about but their parts guy knew about the turbos but didn't know how they worked. From the looks of the turbo it looks there's an actuator, but thats about it.

It's a technology that I wouldn't attempt screwing with until you know exactly how it works and why.

Chrysler actually screwed around wtih this back in the early 90s but we didn't have the technology then to make it reliable.

if you ahve to ask, you shouldn't be doing it without professional help. I am certain one of the top end Performance shops on here would takle it for the right price.

Yeah, I'm not going to do the work myself, I can handle basic stuff but this is well over my head. I'm just trying to get more information on it. And if there is anyone else that sells the turbo for less than porsche.

Ford powerstroke turbos are varible vane. Its not worth using one. There is no way you will be able to control it unless you hire your own personall enginer.

Some old Dodges used to have a similar system. You could just call up borgwarner and ask them too.

Awesome idea for a Z, but it would be cheaper to just go buy a new 911 Turbo

Yeah, I'm gonna call borgwarner as soon as I get some time. No I don't want a 911 turbo. I like the Z better. I am just trying something diferent.

It takes quite a bit of mapping and ECU control to make it work well...
